Hi Guys

I'm setting up the footstraps on my new Falcon (using the standard straps that came with the board) and I can't get the straps to not spin on the bolts. It's not much, but enough for the straps to turn inwards a bit as I slot my foot in. I've added some washers to the bolt on top of the footstraps (as spacers), which has helped a bit. I've tightened them as much as I can now and they're better, but still move slightly. I don't have this issue with the straps on my Rocket. So, are Fanatic footstraps just cr@p, am I missing something or is that just how the straps are? Any advice is welcomed?

Is the board brand new or secondhand? Sometimes there is sand in the holes and it needs to be blasted out with air or flushed with water.

There are two different length retainer screws. Mine on the Tabou, were working loose as well I dont like the Tabou foot straps, as the inside edge as it meets the board is rather hard. Anyway I digress. I purchased some slightly short retainers from Sail n Surf over here, then went and purchased a Philips head with hardened tip. Fitted and all tight and good. My original when I measured came close to, or did bottomed out as well
Fitted the 115 with JP straps, but believe there are other options as well.
So shorter retainers (screws) and hardened tip Philips head so it doesn't wear quickly and not allow good torque on the screw head mating star point

Yeh, Cool.. thanks for the replies. I was thinking maybe getting some hex-head bolts which would give me more purchase than a screw driver, but I'm afraid that at some point the plugs themselves will simply rip out of the board. They seem ok for the moment, but I suspect as soon as they get wet after a few run and stretch, I'll be back on to them with a screw driver.

Lubricate your screws.

Pull one out and check the depth of the hole. Ensure the screws arent too long. If so shorten them.

^^^ agreed, they should be pretty short, you don't want to split the bottom of the insert and let water in.
Get the rectangular toothed washers, they stop a lot of movement. Then with the correct sized screwdriver do them up pretty much as hard as you possibly can by hand

Nigel, Fanatic straps should come with a black plastic insert that is inside each end of the strap with small extrusions on the bottom that when screwed down tight against the webbing will stop the strap twisting. I have been using Fanatics for yonks and have never had the straps twist.
As others have said make sure you don't way over tighten them as the screw will either snap off or you will go through the insert and allow water in.

^^^ Most brands have 'anti-spin' washers/fittings.

Be careful about the torque you put on the screws. If you lubricate the thread, which will reduce the screwing torque and increase the tension inside the assembly. There is a risk that the tension is too high and you will rip off the insert walls and increase the size of the hole.
the usual torque for core diam 4mm is about 3-4N.m, this is 4kg at one meter distance...
this is just to raise your awareness....before you tighten like a "bull" and rip off your insert....while riding....
