Why, if severne suggest the freek for freestyle and bump and jump do most of the guys I know use the blade. Kinda wanna try the freek now...

As a lowly intermediate, the freeks have more power down low and the blades have better higher end. In general I like the feel of the freeks a lot more except when they are overpowered, as they need outhaul tweaking to stay stable. Feels a bit higher up. They also feel much better to duck. They are built lighter and probably won't take as much shorebreak as a blade would.

Freeks also feel way better on foil than the blades but I don't think that's relevant here.

Where did you see the Freek suggested for b&j? I've only seen it advertised as a dedicated freestyle sail. I use Blade in b&j and it works amazing but don't have experience with freestyle sails. They are generally pretty flat in shape, I like more power.

I suspect freeks can be downhauled more, I just didn't use them long enough to experiment.

Gator is a better bump and jump sail from severne. Guess you'll have to choose what you prefer to do the most, freestyle or b&j.

Those are two different things.

The Freek is for freestyle, as in those weird manoeuvres on thick and flat boards, with barely half a fin at the back.
The Blade is their "power" wave sail, used for on-shore wave sailing and well suited for multi-fin boards in waves.
The Gator is for bump and jump, and well suited for single-fin boards in waves or on flatter water.

Freestyle-wave is now also called Free-wave, as I have understood it.

maybe I confused things when I wrote bump and jump instead of freestyle wave however for me those 2 terms mean the same thing. So my question was, what would be a better choice for bump and jump, the blade or the freek. Seems the freek might be getting overlooked. I can see why it might be a better choice for most however most of my friends use blades for bump and jump / freestyle wave.

Recently spent some time in a windier more wavey part of the world. Freeks were more widely used when conditions were less than ideal as the better bottom end got you up and going. The bump and jump/ freestylers were going nuts on them. Blades and S1 when it was properly windy...

yeah I'm thinking for our less than stellar conditions it may be a good choice.
benefit of the S1 is 5.6-4.8 all work on a 400 mast and that covers pretty much everything locally.

Perhaps one big reason many prefer the Blades is that Freeks are so light. Severne accomplished that by using thinner monofilm in the upper panels. I had a Freek that I mostly used for freeriding where it seemed that all panels disintegrated at the same time, after a bit more than 100 sessions. Other sails I've had also started to have panels break after a similar number of sessions - but usually only one middle panel, just occasionally two. Replacing the one panel then doubles the life of the sail. When all panels go at the same time, it's time to buy a new sail.

The GATOR is best for bump&jump conditions.
The GATOR is freewave/crossover oriented.
The GATOR planes earlier.
The GATOR has five battens up to 7.0 and six battens from 7.5 and up.
