Windsurfing on a Porsche!

Well guys, yup I did it! Found a way to haul my gear on a Porsche. I did sell the car after 5 years of hauling the stuff this way in order for practicality reasons, but I miss this set up. I could only run the board and equipment this way with the top down only. Got a truck instead, and now I don't have to be so careful.

I must admit I've never seen this arrangement for transporting the gear before... The dripping of salty water into the leather and dashboard would have driven me crazy!

For a period of time I had to transport my windsurf gear inside a new-beetle, and that was also challenging... I'll try to find a picture.....

The sand was the main issue, I had to vacuum the car all the time. I never had any problem with drippy water because I dried everything off really well. I think because the setup was so unique, I didn't care about the extra hassle, I just made it work and it did. I think I also enjoyed all the attention on the road. I had all kinds of people slow down next to me while they were checking it out. The setup was very secure, while I could do speeds of 80 MPH with no problems. The board sat slightly below the height of the windshield, so it ended up working well from an aerodynamic point of view.

WTF are you doing driving around your gear in a porche?
Sell the car, buy a van and spend the rest on more windsurfing gear.

Well guys, yup I did it! Found a way to haul my gear on a Porsche. I did sell the car after 5 years of hauling the stuff this way in order for practicality reasons, but I miss this set up. If u had a hardtop u could use roof racks , now that would look cool

20 year old gear on such a nice car. I'd say your priorities are screwed up - clunker old car with nice new gear on top brings a much bigger smile to my face.

That's so cool.
I got a 93 black/tan and been wondering if that was possible. Now I know.
Shame the weather in Norway is a bit too unstable to risk driving 2 hours with the top down on a really windy day (rain to be expected)
