Quick update about the meet.
cheers to the sunshine coast sailboards team for their great effort in what turned out to be somewhat difficult conditions early on. the day started off with a large rain storm reducing the traffic on the freeway to 50km/hr. undisturbed by what seems to be a trend with extreme weather and windwanderers meets we all turned up to the beach, eager and ready.
Dieter and the guys had supplied a large range of gear from ahd, bic, starboard and neil pryde for us all to try. the wind was light at times but everyone that hit the water managed some powered up runs across to bribie island and back.
after the lunch bbq and getting late in the day we had some magic, the wind swung easterly and increased to around 18 knots, giving those out on the water dead flat runs along the bank towards the pier, classic old school Caloundra conditions). It turned out to be the last puff from the wind gods and resulted in a few having to walk back along the beach to the launch area.
all in all another really fun and relaxing day with blue skies and flat runs. most demo'd the starboard futura and s-types mixed in with the neil pryde 8.2m helcat and a V8.
it was excellent to have som much gear available of different shape and volumes. enabled the crew to test each board and rig in exctly the same conditions and get a feel for volume etc that suited their specific needs.
more to come including photos etc in a few days.
next meet will be either wellington point or bongaree depending on wind direction.
cheers.
