Apart from wind speed forecasts are there other factors or BOM information you consider before venturing out to get a better idea of wind conditions.

i'm not sure whether you mean forecast or current conditions.
for current conditions i look at the bom stations, seabreeze, out the window, etc.
for forecasts i look at seabreeze, bom, gfs and ecmwf models then cross my fingers.
oh, and also moon phases. :)

I go by the bom, check the st kilda kite cam and if my curtains start blowing inthe wind it gives me signs.
the seabreeze one keeps changen i find its not that good to go by
