Hi, I've been windsurfing for over a month now. I can tack without falling in but I want to move onto some hardcore stuff and I know if I set my mind to something I can do it. Which fins should I use to learn to do push loop forwards? Do I need to take the centre board out?
You have to leave the center board in, but you also have to wrap a beer can around it to help initiate the rotation once you're in the air. It's called the "can roll" and it's the easiest one to learn, and where you begin your freestyle career. Good luck, and keep us informed.
What most people dont realize is that a push forward is just like a backward flip only in reverse. So yes , leave the centre board down , even forward if u can . So as your hitting the lip in reverse pull on more downhaul . Most important is to remember to slide your back foot down the boom. Good luck. Please send photos.
I find it easier to put a foot strap on the dagger board and as you pop off the back of a small piece of chop grab it with your front hand to help initiate the rotation
It pays to be very careful about fin choice. Many brands these days are prone to developing a fishy odour. I recommend you try to sniff as many fins as possible before making your final selection to avoid any unpleasantness as you practice your loops.
