Hi everyone,
Im finally going back to windsurf, after 5 year !
I bought all the rig and im looking for a place relatively safe where i can learn waterstart.
I learn windsurfing in garda lake , italy, than improved my skills in fuerteventura spain no shark no strong current and lifeguard and instructor always present.
Here im gonna be on my own so if anyone has any advice is more than welcome.
Im looking also for a windsurf buddy, i just learned to plane with both foot on the strap, will be cool to find people thst share my passion in my area!
Cheers !!

Perth area - Melville beach
South of Perth - Safety Bay.
Both have a bunch of helpful locals that you can bounce a question off or two and both are shallow water areas suitable for water starting.

So where is your area?
My advice for learning to water start, is make sure you're not too far out and learn to come back in first, unless you have a big area of shallow water.
We have lots of that in the Mandurah estuary if you're down this way.

I saw Pelican Point in a SW seabreeze.

Just upwind of the boatramp channel (or in it) so after one or two waterstart attempts you drift onto the waist deep sandbank

Melville waters would be perfect. Nice and shallow in the right places. I taught myself in knee deep water, then crashed and swam in. Little bit of water intake and the occasional vom but quite a competent water starter now. That's about it. Key takeaway learn somewhere where you canstand

do what you've done here but on location and ask for tips and help. Most people will be more than willing to give.

one tip now, when you load your kit in the car, pack a beer or two to dilute the water intake . And perhaps one more for the person who helps you most
