At my weight 75kg and with sails 4,7 - 5,5 - 6,6 in what wind range in Knotts could I use a RRD FSW 96 2008 Ltd model ?

15/25 knts

15 knots on a 96 litre board? Is that extreme low end, or still comfortable at that windspeed?

At 75kg with a 6.6m on a 96l board should be planing comfortably in 15knots, good range of sails to change down as the wind picks up

After buying a wind meter I'm surprised how strong 15 knots of wind actually is. What I used to think was 15 knots is a fair bit lower, like 10 or 12 knots. What is also of note is how gusty the wind is where I've measured the wind. Usually it varies anything up to 15 knots. So it may be 20 knots in the gusts and 5 in the lulls.

A smaller board is not as fun in that sort of wind.

Probably find that 6.6 is way too big on a 96L FSW (without using a lot more fin at least).

At around 15kn it may be better to use the 5.5 and have to pump a bit - then you have a lovely light feeling sail and easy planing, rather than wrestling a too-big sail and the board trying to round up

I also have a Tabou rocket 125 for that 6.6 sail so i think I m covered for winds below 15 knotts ?

Just want to get an idea for what combi to make between the 2 boards and these 3 sails depending on the Knotts.

Any suggestion are more than welcome.

P.S. the 96l one, since it is the 2008 model and has a width of 60cm wouldn't it be to narrow for 15-17 knotts ??

use the 4.4 and 5.5 with the RRD (18 to 25+ knts) and the 6.6 with the rocket (12 to 20knts)

At your weight you don't need anything else.

Spyros, width does not determine planing threshold - it is volume, rocker and width.
Back in the 90's a 96L slalom board was about 50cm and planed just as early (if not earlier) than your RRD. Trouble is they were pigs to gybe and all they did good was go fast.

So no it is not "too narrow" for 15-7kn)

If its consistent 15kts.. gusty no. I wiegh c 64kgs & only use my 95 rocket with 5m upwards so tend to use it for 18kts consistent +. I am intending to experiment this year with bigger sails to see if it stays on the plane. I just like the way the 125 goes through the lulls so easily.

I weigh 64kgs & have a 95 rocket but I usually don't use it until 18kts consistent with a 5m.. Might try the 6.6m with it this year and see if it works.I usually use the 125 in less than 15kts..I find I need c 14kts+ to plane with the 125 + 6.6m but that is going upwind and I'm not the worlds greatest sailor... I did find 10kts got me going on a beam reach if I tried hard.
