Time to jump on board the new foiling craze
I'm about to , picking up foil today

Im going to be one of THOSE guys .
Please shoot me if I start thinking about kites.

Its just a matter of time till your progression and skill level is ready for a kite, progression from standard old school poledancing on to a foil is the first step, you are nearly ready grasshopper from being a kitten to a becoming tom cat.

Some on here are too scared to have a crack on a foil, they say that its not real windsurfing lol, but they are just too old and scared to try new things.
Good on ya mate, foil on brother.
To me the idea of foiling is just another disilpline to windsurfing in lighter wind , like a RB which I also enjoy.
I doubt it will be as much fun as planing a small board , but who knows. I'll take the lot !
Kiters never smile , same as airport security , so it can't be much fun. So I probably won't do either .
I think they never smile because a lot of them don't have much control and are just hoping that the big kite thing doesn't fall from the sky. Well, you would think that anyway based on the way a lot of them are not concious of other people around them.
As a windsurfer I used to assume that kiters just hated windsurfers and went out of their way to get in the way, jump without looking, and do runs so short that it seems they are too afraid of the water and don't know how to swim.
This season I spent almost two weeks hanging around a beginner area and practising kiting. I was wrong. They don't really hate windsurfers, they just generally don't have any understanding of other water users including other kiters. They do the same short runs, jumping without looking, and have the general lack of observational skills, even when there are just other kiters around. Beats me why some kiters want to go a whole 50 metres and turn around repeatedly when there is a 500m stretch of nice clear water to play in.
One thing I will have to own up to though is that I didn't have enough wind to plane on a 8.5m sail, but with an 11m kite and a big board, I was happily going back and forward all day,.... only 50ms though, as I wanted to try and fit in
