I've got this Peter Thommen X135 board that I know nothing about other than its pretty old, probably from around 2003 I think. Is it a freeride, freerace or slalom board? What sort and size fin and sails would suit it best? and why does it bend up so far at the nose? If you sit it flat with the tail on the ground the nose sits about 6 inches or more up in the air! Just wondering if anyone has ever had one of these or knows anything about them. I have 4 powerbox fins that may suit, 3 free ride style and one slalom style ranging from 38cm to 48cm. See below pics

Is it a Super X board ? That would explain the nose rocker

i have the X115, i bought it a few years back and have only sailed it a couple of times.
made in Tunisia i believe.
there is some info on old web sites though not easy to find.

I had a Thommen X95. Basically, Peter Thommen the legendary designer at F2 set-up his own brand is around 2005 ish. From what I remember the X boards were "Freewave" in the smaller sizes and then became "Freeride" in the larger sizes like yours.

My X95 was a great board performance wise BUT........it suffered from major quality problems and leaked through many pin holes in the deck. From what I understood, Thommen boards were made in a non-cobra factory (Tunisia, I think?) and quality was hit and miss. If your board has lasted till now, it should be fine.

As for fin, I would try the blue or black north shore fins....as they match the footstraps, so you'll look like you are sponsored

worth watching

Bring it back I say!!!

Essentially slalom but you have to jump an obstacle about knee high, do a forward loop and a spock (or is it vulcan) during the race, in proper wind it was spectacular. In limited wind it was bloody hard work

A great board, depending on your experience you might want to put those footstraps inboard.
Usually they would suit anything from an 8.5m down to a 5m.

I wouldn't use a full on slalom sail though, think something no cammed would suit it more.

I did try it at first with the footstraps inboard but it didn't feel right so went back to beach and moved them out to try in the same conditions and it felt much more comfortable, a little tricky to get the back foot in but once in the strap was much better. That was in 22kt offshore wind with ezzy cheetah 7.0 and 44cm slalom fin. Next time I will try it with 38 or 42cm freeride fin to compare

I have an X85, built like a tank and very smooth/fast in chop. I really need to use it more often for strong wind without breaking waves, it doesn't work great on a wave compared to a modern board.

I believe in the bigger size it's fast freeride/freerace.
