I've recently bought a half-wrecked JP FSW 98L 2005 and slowly wrecking it further.

It was an experiment to see If I could sail such a small board (I'm around 97kg).
The "experiment" has been quite a success. It plans faster than my other board, it's faster overall, handles the chop well, I can utilise smaller sails...so it has become my main board.

However, I don't think it will last more than a few more months. It's already leaking water, has been patched all around, and it's a matter of time...

It would be great if the experienced sailors who sailed the JP FSW and other boards could advise me what else feels the same.

Why not look for another JP FSW?

Just had a quick look in the WA buy and sell and there are a couple of them there for $300 or less each.

Makes my $6.50 Tiga Wave seem a bit expensive.

Going cheap if you act fast!

If it is leaking water, you are doing well! Just wait until it has all leaked out and you should be okay

Learn how to repair it and it could last another decade or two, and cost you next to nothing.

JP FSW would be ideal. Just in case I don't find one.

I had a look, before and couldn't find anything similar.

Just re-checked and (volume wise) only one (in Mandurah) is close enough at 94L. I've emailed the guy just now.

I have no idea what's the volume of my board with the nose cut off. I can imagine a 2-3 litres less - so 95L? Should be close enough. Mine is probably a bit wider.

Otherwise this one is of interest, but is advertised as 2009, whereas everything points to 2005:

I made a few cracks on the nose, and have patched them, but there was still some water in, and during the last few hot days, it has found it's way out through the patch . Now I need to do it again. As you said, I need to learn how then actually do it

These minor cracks can be fixed, however, the whole thing has a hairline crack alongside the edge where the non-slip area meets slippery area.

I know I have a terrible history at board recommendations for you Obelix, if your down to 98L your doing well!
But thats a sinker for you, maybe 110s might be better allround?

Futura may be of interst. I've never tried it, but need to stick with the Powerbox fins though.

I have a nice 115 (also a sinker for me ...but since I got this JP, I only went out once on it (while repairing the JP) and it felt big and cumbersome.
Pinnaroo's feels so much friendlier on the JP.

I'm not so sure I will handle the 94L well, given it would be narrower again. But happy to try.

Obelix, an RRD FSW wave will give a similar feeling to a JP FSW - I personally prefer the RRD slightly but would be happy on either. I also briefly had a Fanatic Freewave (which got great reviews) but I didn't enjoy it - I think maybe it was more freestyle than wave.

A Futura is closer to the slalom end of the freeride specturm - sometimes referred to as Freerace.

The S Type is is at the quicker end and a similar concept to the JP Super X - they were both designed for PWA Super X - a mix between Slalom and Freestyle.

Very informative.
My aim is bump and jump so I better focus on the right board for that.

Felt fast, but ergos just didn't work for me.
I should probably stay away from the JP Super X then.
I'll probably give Futura a miss too.

The RRD FSW is then an option if I don't find a JP.

$6.50..Wow what a buy..If your whinging at that price your a bigger cheapskate than me..

Hi Obelix, Sounds like the JP FSW is what suits you, but I wouldn't discount the Futura without trying one.
They are a really nice board. I love mine and Pointman swears by his, and he sails at Pinnaroo a bit. Tuttle box though.

I wouldn't mind a Futura road test, but as you said, it would mean another set of fins. All my fins are powerbox now.

Just picked up the JP FSW 94 from Toby (cheers mate) to road test.
Now for some wind...
