Hello All

I am in the market for a new wettie. I was wondering if anybody has experience with Wing wet suits ?

I currently have a Triple-X 2mm Titanium mega stretch. I have been happy with it, and it's lasted very well. It's a bit cold for winter here in Adelaide. During mid-winter, I have to wear a rashie under the wettie, booties and my Gaff lid.

I really need a 3mm suite, which is why I'm buying a new one. I also don't want to wear booties this winter, but I don't want numb feet. I was wondering if a 3mm suit is good enough to keep the feeling in the feet ? (water temperature here is about 10 degrees)

West. There is no other as far as I am concerned now. No questions asked unlimited warranty on seams with it fixed properly and posted back to you if any dramas

I cannot state strongly enough how good the service was when I took one back with a tiny tear.

Good point. I noticed XL wetties for blokes are taller as well as fatter.

So to get one to fit my guts (oops I mean large shoulders) it is too long in the legs. They seem to assume big people are also tall, but I am short for my weight

I'd like to see sizing for blokes to be, for example, a XLtall and XLsolid. The latter one would be fatter but same height as a Large

S - Ssolid - M - Msolid - L - Lsolid - XL - XLsolid etc

Im a Triple X owner as well. After years of getting bashed up by me my 2mm has bee replaced with one of their new 3/2 combos. Its got a slick skin on trunk and titanium in and outside - which means nothing to me other than its really good.

I thing they also do a 4/3 which would be super toasty.

My 3/2 is great for winter here and I used it at Sandy Point and Melbourne in August September last year and the only cold thing was my hands.

I'd stick with them. Give the fellas at Triple X a ring. They're great to put you in the right suit.

Yes aussie product that was made here....... but at least most of the money stays hereI guess still better than buying some overseas owned and manufactured stuff

Regarding whether 3mm is thick enough for winter, it depends on how much personal insulation you have.
I am very slim and wear a long 3/2 wetsuit in winter, plus rashie plus boots plus buoyancy vest and still can only sail for half an hour before I sieze up. This is in Perth. This is also where the good fit comes in. If your suit is too loose in parts you get a flushing with fresh cold water everytime you fall in. If it is too tight it affects your circulation.
Go to a surf shop and try on as many brands as they have.

Yes and take a plastic shopping abg with you to put on your feet.

Trying on lots of steamers in summer when you are just a tiny bit sweaty is a pain in the beehoind

djl & Mark: I'll give West suits Lotus a go :)

windxtasy: I'm bummed with buying stuff from retail shops. It's a special trip in town to do it. The salesman sells you some **** that is either a size more or less than what you are; has features that are missing or unneeded. So you take it because that's all they have. In my experience (not just windsurfing), I have better success with mail order. As Ellobuddha said, with Triple-X, you ring them up if their chart doesn't match you and they will recommend something that is pretty damn accurate. Worst case scenario (very rare to happen), is you send it back and they either exchange or alter it for a small fee.

I'll be buying something else next month, and we'll be picking your brains again. Thanks for all your suggestions. You are all a big help :)
