Rumour has it that a few Kiters are frequenting this spot in the Torres Strait. Strong, regular SE to ESE trade winds in the middle of our winter. I remember seeing some BoM wind statistics that had this area by far the windiest in Australia at that time of the year.
Why should they have all the fun?

The sandbar seems to be at a great angle for ESE, and is about 550m long from the end of the vegetation on the island to the first hook. Winds quoted as typically constantly 15-20 knots.

Kitesurfari in FNQ is ridiculously windy in winter. You can go from days there with 20knots or more, every day, to find almost no wind in Cairns or Port Douglas. I don't know if there are any spots really good enough for a speed setup.
