I know you aren't considering the iLoad or the Elgrand, but I think if you haven't already driven them, you would be surprised at how well these things drive. I don't know what the German vans are like as I have never driven one.

At home I had an FG falcon, a BA wagon, a VZ commodore wagon and the Elgrand. I found myself choosing the Elgrand every time unless it was a height clearance problem or I wanted to give the other cars a chance to charge up their batteries.

I used to drive hiaces on the annual windsurfing trip and one year had to hire an iLoad instead. What a difference! The iLoad was awesome to drive and felt like a car to me. The Elgrand has me often forgetting its a van as it feels like a car just a little higher up. My only 'car' at the moment is an Elgrand and I can't see the need for anything else.

outside of your criteria but just in case you didnt know - ford transit seats come complete with their own seatbelt system, are available used (in USA at least) at ebay for example, and come in various quick-release dbl's, triples, and a very narrow single. just need to get their thru-floor mounting system to spec-strength install in other vehicle; considering nearby airbags, and fuel tank and other obstructions underneath
