Had two days off with no wind. Finally got round to setting van up. Takes up to four boards plus masts and booms underneath. Room for bag of wet gear and equipment bag (unis fins etc) all underneath as well.

Room for 6 or more sails up top (wet one goes underneath in board bag) Plenty of room on bed level to throw heaps of other boards etc on trips away with others. Pretty happy with overall result

Nice one! Similar to what i did with my ecoonovan. Ill put a photo on when i get round to it. Out of curiosity what is the distance from the top of you matress to the sails?. We put the sails under the bed but that put the matress quite close to the roof.

I looked at sleeping in my van and then figured that one of these would be better

It's so damp in the van and I'd be too close to the ceiling

haha, g, your got to love hyundias, i thought they would of fixed there dodgy engines by now that they sell with there cars, haha, but people keep buying them cause they look nice. So they could put anything under the bonnet

My auntie went and brought the new hyundia elantra last year and the clutch went in a few months of driving?? few months?? my mum brought a new toyota echo in about 2002 and never has the clutch gone in it, and it has done about million ks on the clock

Its roughly about one metre (will measure properly) Just enough room to get in and not knock your head. Wanted to be able to fit at least four boards underneath so took it up above the wheel arch height.

I dunno. I guess most makes have the odd lemon. I bought a brand new Hyundai Excel in 97. Never did a thing to it but routine servicing. Flogged the guts out of it. Drove it across the Nullabor once to Perth with windsurfing gear stacked on the racks to more than the height of the car. Fuel economy was awesome. Sold it in 2008 with 378,000 km on the clock still running perfectly. Could not have asked for better performance.

Bought a VW Transporter second hand but with less than 100,000km on it towards the end of the Excel's run. Had no end of trouble with it and sold it within a year. Bought a new 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. It has been absolutely awesome so far. Couldn't ask for anything better. Except maybe an iLoad to pack in more windsurfing gear

As a result of my experience with the Excel, my Mum bought an Elantra back in 2006-ish and has also found it fantastic.

Sad to hear a bad iLoad story. Based on my Hyundai experiences, I wouldn't have hesitated to get one. I certainly won't be going back for another Transporter.

Cool love the setup, would like to do something similar to my econovan although it is only a short wheel base. would it be possible? My boards are 235cm

Should be easy enough as long as space longer than your board length. Just depends on the econovan length. Ive got boards up to 255 and fit no worries.

Toyota's are great; they just keep going and going - however stopping seems to be a design criteria they have recently overlooked!

Toyotas - a colleage at work just had that problem with the non-stop acceleration...one of those Go-get rental cars you see about town. Wasn't on the suspect list from toyota. Eventually he slowed down from 90 to 50 and the "stuck" accelerator came unstuck. Scary !
