It is obviously only used for short trips, so it must be good for the environment!

For the non petrol heads out there, some context. A brand new stock VESS Commodore will generally run a 1/4 mile at about 14 seconds.

To get an 8.3 is a pretty mean feat and I read that the guys running it are shooting to get into the 7's. It is powered by a 632ci Big Block chev engine, I would expect the van is producing in excess of 750hp, well over double the HP of a std V8 Commodore.

Plus the N2o, that would give over 1000 horses with that size motor I would think.

I would have thought a VE SS would be quicker than that! My old 5.7 SS would do the same time easy.

They said they only ran with a small shot of N2o for that run, so guess maybe a single 100 shot.

My SS ute 5.7 ran a high 12 with a little work that had it producing 310hp at the rear treads.

My mate has a Monaro and with a bit of rooting around it had about the same as your on a dyno. It had the usual mods airbox throttle body etc, my 5.7 is standard and can keep up with his Monaro. I would never beat him but its close.

Update on fast van, Street Machine has a small article on it.

1305 hp before N2o.

Engine is 632ci Blackwell Chev.
