I am a beginner this year on an old Bic Techno 283 with the 46 cm fin pictured.
This Fin is fine for deep water but i need a shorter fin for in the river. - i think about 34cm might be good. I am led to believe this is a trim fin.. is that right?.
Do they still make these?

Norm, I think they're officially called trimbox. Others forms are tuttle, powerbox or US.

It should be really easy to get one at 34cms either new or second hand. Try Windsurfnsnow in Sydney (02) 9971 0999 or One Knot Windshop in Gerroa (02) 4234 0024. Waz has plenty of old fins!

You should be able to find trimbox fins around, agreed, probably in the second hand fin boxes.

If you get stuck, you can still get the Select multi-fin trimbox adapter, and buy another Select fin, and replace its existing adapter with the trimbox one.

I have a 34cm power-fin off a Mistral Screamer 2 , but i think that even if i could find an adapter, the fin looks very firmly set in the head to remove it. Probably easier to wait for a trimbox fin to turn up.

I have a 32cm Trim box I would be keen to do a deal to swop.. I am after a longer trim box fin...

If it is only because you sail somewhere shallow you may be disappointed. Sailing a board underfinned- particularly a wide freeride board - can be very frustrating and difficult.

If you have the option of walking out 30m and then sailing with the correct sized fin, I'd take that option.

What wind strength, what board/sail... etc?

If you can find one - consider a "Trim box weed fin" for shallower water.
