It's basically a big speed board, very fast and comfortable in a wide range of wind and water conditions. Will operate with a relatively small fin and still go upwind well due to its long rail length.

I really like the thinking. It reminds me of my 9'6" Precision Equip slalom board. That thin was smooth as and turned beautifully.

i dunno olskool.. i can;t see this board being any good with big rigs. it's too narrow.

i get it's probably great off the wind and will no doubt be quick on some of the WA based events that are aimed at downwind sailing in high winds But I;m dubious of the credentials listed on the windtech website like early planing, upwind ability. compared to what is my question?

BIG rigs is guys over 100kg.
At 130litre id be expecting to use 7.5-5.5sails.

Maybe for 75kg riders, 260 is plenty long to get the benefits of a little extra length translating to windrange gains.

I don't know about the cruise missile but the extra length of the Silver Bullits makes them handle chop more comfortably ( not smashing into every piece like shorter slalom boards) . They go upwind great and they are designed for comfort and control in chop. They are full on fun!

"not smashing into every piece like shorter slalom boards" ... well ... really ... they do not ... unless you are in displacement!!!!! Modern "short" boards are a marvel in high seas compared to anything older than, say, 15 years.

Marketing sort of dictates that "longer" boards are again proposed, but it is mostly ... marketing ... a little bit like the stubby but in reverse. For example, the difference between some of the shortest freerace (say Futura 71, 228 long) and longest ones (Severne Fox 120, 244 ) is around 15 cm. Really not much, and often due to the nose shape, width or rocker differences are very minor.

The cruise missile is a different story ... almost 70 cm longer and way narrower than any 130 board on the market.

Dunno if its just Marketing. Pretty sure theres a crew of Aussie heavy weights behind the WT MISSILE design.
Heres my $1.50 on a Golden Oldie, Long n thin. Mistral Explosion 130. Still a fast easy riding board today. 288 x 59 x 130litre. The longer length glides onto the plane without having to bear away so much n load the fin. Carves thru short pressure wave chop easily using its length n only 30cm fin. Also points noticibly higher with a higher speed when dredging. Ive tried it back to back a few times against modern 130 designs. Being narrow it does need a bit better rider input balance wise. Its not such an armchair ride as the new designs. But it still got what it takes to go fast just the same. My only dislike is lack of volume in the tail for my 110kg. But hey thats the 90s.
The WT Missile looks to be a modern version with better volume distribution thru the tail. Would love to take any of the Larger volume WT Hulls for a spin.
Any of WTs range for testride here in SEQld?

Just had the tape measure over the board and can confirm it is definitely 287cm along the rocker and corresponds to 9'4" in imperial (this is how Neil Scheltema has been measuring boards for about 40 years - quote "If you get a dead flat board and bend it for nose rocker it does not get shorter. It's the waterline and it stays the same")

Also, I can confirm the "comfort" factor - had the board out in very hectic river chop on Sunday (3 squadrons of sailboats were racing) and the board handled extremely well. Was running a 7.8 full race sail and 32cm weed fin in 20-25kts SW seabreeze. So yes, I'm very confident that it will be fun in light air too!! I'll be using it mostly in river / ocean conditions so will post some vids as soon as I can so you can see how it handles in different sea states. Just waiting for my gopro mast clip to arrive. In the meantime, another pic from Sunday.

As I said, in this days even math is an opinion as well as forgetting dimensions?
287 (cm) / 2.54 (inches / cm) = 112.9 (inches) (it is really 112.99 = 113, oh well)
112.9 (inches) / 12 (inches/foot) = 9.4 (foot) that of course is not equal to 9 feet and 4 inches ...

No harm done! of course one can look at that Nine Four label and contrary to any logic read it as a 9.4 ... in a wonderful mix of metric and imperial!
