I was reading the depth of Decrepit's response to a starter recently, remembering Nebbian doing that same for me when I had a similar question.

New people start and ask the same questions all over again, and you guys are around to help which is fantastic.

On behalf of other people like me, and just wanted to thank all people like you on behalf of many people learning the sport.
Also thanks to Seabreeze for providing the forums and for having such a great Web site.

It's a huge thing that we have you helping us to build our skills. Sometimes we just take it for granted.

I would like to add to that the windsurfing community in general is generous with its time.

Recently I decided to get back into sailing after a 10 year lay off. I dragged my mid nineties gear to the water and after an hour I was reminded of why this sport is so good, but with limited time, and slalom gear based to sailing in lovely WA, I soon found that time on the water here on the east coast was going to be limited.

Enter the windsurfing community - all of whom had a different tack but one thing in common - all where willing to help with advice, a ride on some newer equipment etc- and in the end thanks to an afternoon spent looking at and talking to the Formula guys at Marmong Point a new toy was purchased.

A special shout to Stephen Walsh the local KA sponsored sailer - who dispensed advice and tuning of my new (new to me ) gear and all the other formula guys at Marmong (advice, downhaul rope....etc) Thanks fellas

Agree whole heartedly. Been able to give, share and recieve advice on this site. Because I mostly sail alone I lack the chance to have a yarn with other windsurfing folk. It's a great source of information and inspiration.

I particularly love hearing about new people taking up the sport or like me people coming back to it. We need to pass it onto our kids though so we can lose our 'grey army' imagine.

What goes around comes around... it wasn't that long ago that I was in the same boat as you, and asked heaps of questions on here... you can guess what happened

Nebs as usual is right on the money.
None of us as individuals can do much to solve the world's problems, but it doesn't hurt to spread a little joy around when it's possible.

It helps heaps. A lot of people learn from you guys.

As Nebbian suggested, I'll be happy to help when I get proficient.
I've been in and out for years as a beginner, but I've started obsessing 2 months ago, and this should be a sign that I may succeed this time around

Now guys, if you could do something about this horrible nice weather...

I give advice occasionally.... I'm no where near what I'd call a 'windsurfer' (just new to waves, love going fast though).

I find it's good to hear from all levels, as an intermediate (>4yrs in ) I still remember vividly the progression steps, struggling to stand upright on a 165lt Go, right through to recently having to steer the sail after 'taking-off' during a jump! (I still struggle to stand upright)

Getting tips from the guys that have been through that and are 'real' windsurfers just makes me try harder to get to that level (though I think I know it won't happen, not from lack of trying!), and hearing some of the stories from newbies struggling with some of the basics keeps me motivated...

'tis is a good site for sharing knowledge & stories...with a lot of distracting humour along the way.

take my addvise, this site isn't a bible on windsurfing, there's a lot of bad addvise out there obelix, if there's anythig you don't want to know ask me

True, but people sincerely offer a bad advice

And when they do, others will correct it then a discussion takes off, and you still learn along the way.
