Anyone with a 63 wide Rocket 105 (late model) care to share what the largest sail size they use that works well? Fin size with that sail would be also helpful.

7.8 would probably be towards the upper limit. I'm not sure about a pointer but i think i tried one with a 36 JP weed fin many moons ago.

I have a 2016 Rocket 105 63cm wide full carbon board and the biggest i use is a 7 metre with a 34cm pointer. I use a 31 weed fin when racing in safety bay because its very weedy. If i need a 7.8 metre sail i'm using a bigger slalom board.

I'm with maddlad on this one ,7,0 biggest sail.and 34 pointer .I also spend my summer holiday at WA ,And use a 32 carbon weed fin & 21 delta , weed fin on mine ..I have found its the best slalom style board ,I Have owned that is not intimated by heavy chop .Its rides over it ,and still feels like a exciting board to ride ,they haven't changed the shape much ,since 2013 and there are some older cheaper models available on the breeze at the moment .I have a 2017 LTD and its a keeper for life .I have used mine at cervantes with a 5,0 ,6,0 ,and it is still very controllable
At safety bay out the back in the very windy 18-22 knot days ,its the board to have .I love it .

yep, 7.0 and a 34-36cm fin. A larger size bogs it, unless you are very light <70kg, even then the difference is marginal

I have recently bought one of these. Sorry to hijack the thread but would also love some guidance on fin selection.
I am 80kg have an odd assorted quiver a 7.2m sail Vandal, a 6.5m Tushingham and a Gator 5.7m sailing for the most part at Melville.

HI Clarrie,

Sorry i only just saw this reply. I use a 34 cm Vector Volt G10 pointer and a 31cm JP Weed fin on this board mostly. I did buy a 34 cm Zulu Carbon pointer and try it but it felt slow. The G10 Volt feels a lot better. I hope that helps.

No worries. Hopefully you feel an increase in performance from the volt which is a pointer over the JP freeride which has a more curved tip. Let us know how's it goes.
