Dudes with this size board, how have you found it?

What weight are you and what sail ranges have you tried? Water type usage?

Float? I'm skinny fat, but need something that is "kinder" in winter...........

I'm 80-85 kg, brown hair, I like long walks along the beach and am a goat.

PS - those that know me and know what I'm like, no flaming, yes, I'm considering a new board again

I weigh 95-97 kg I have a new shape 2014 3s 96l and it is one of the best boards I have ever owned. If it's less than 18 knots I use my 115 L Rocket. The range of the 96 3s is huge and if I didn't have a 115 rocket I would have gone for the 106 instead.

I sail mainly in open water with a lot of chop and wind swell in WA. The new shape works really well in those conditions

106 3S, how do I love thee, let me count the ways?
Early planning
Soft squidgy foot pads
Feels smaller that it is due to tail cut outs (amazing turning ability)
Easy to shlog around waiting for waves.

80-85Kg. Got this board to ease my wife back into sailing after having a bub. We tag team on the beach with the little man.
Got it just before the G?loo/Exmouth trip last year and was amazed how well it turned on the wave for a big board.

Also, my brother started sailing as well and I needed a river board to go and join him.
Only have a 6.7 as my biggest, but I?m sure you could bung a 7.2+ on it with the stock fin.
Usually sail in choppy conditions or waves, this board is so easy to gybe.

I also have the 96 3S & an 85 pocket (2 sailors in the family with another budding windsurfer as well.)

Preference for STD or LTD?

Got the LTD. Have not tried the Standard.

Hey Kurt. I got my 3S 106 LTD towards the end of our seabreeze season so have not had as much time on it as I would have liked before reviewing. I am 80kg. IMO it works well in the bay for our seabreeze conditions and I think the 5.8 to 6.5m sail range is it's sweet spot. As I was wanting to down grade from 3 boards to just 2 I went the 106 and 86 3S rather than the 86 and 96 3S's and a bigger freerace style board. My feeling is the 106 is slightly more freeride orientated but I am using a straighter freeride style fin so that stands to reason. It's a quick board having had mine up to 28+ knots (GPS) in the bay using a wave sail. Very comfy. I used mine is this years b2b race and came in around 12th but alas I missed one upwind marker by 20-30 metres so was not placed. It handled the conditions well at 20+ knots on the day. I use mine in a 4 strap config which works well both for freeride and freemove. I'm not a wave sailor so have not used it in the waves so I can't comment there. I think it's a very versatile board, with the change of a fin and sail it can go from freemove to freerace very well.
