Being one of the lucky winners of a pair of seabreeze sunglasses, I've worn them out for the last couple of sessions. All I can say is they are brilliant. I highly recommend them for anyone out on the water.

The first time I wore them out was in last sunday's 20-25 knot norwester at kurnell. It was hot, windy and bumpy with lots of spray in the air. Whenever I copped a face full of spray (usually from a kiter buzzing the tower) I could wipe them off with my arm whilst still planing. I wear a long sleeve rashie in summer though, so sunscreen was not a problem.

Yesterday afternoon I went out for a leisurely couple of hours sail at Kyeemagh in about 15 knots, no spray in the air this time. The sun was very bright, 30 degrees yesterday, and getting low in the sky. We sailed from 4:00 until 5:30 and the sunnies really cut down the glare.

All I can say is they rock

I tried on Shear-Tips sunnies yesty, they are great, and fit comfortably with a Gath 'surf convertable' hat as well!!

The're going onto my chrissy list - and should go on your's as well

A friend also suggested that if you do experience stuff sticking to your lenses, then a bit of Mr Sheen is the go .. personally haven't needed or tried it yet, but sounds like a good "solution"!

Also works really well is RainX, it is a water repellant for windscreens. Someone here told me about it ages ago, cos I have to wear prescription sunnies.

We have that here too! except it's called Uranium sunglasses...multi-coloured and everyone wears them!

Do they fit well when you are wearing a helmet? I have pair that are all but useless when I wear the helmet.

These look pretty good. Is it one size fits all? There are a wide variety of head sizes out there and on some they will stick out the sides a lot and on others they will be tight as.

Also, do the polarised have any tint at all, or is it just the polarisation that cuts out the glare without reducing light input? I often find when I am out all afternoon, by the end of the day I can barely see, because my sunnies are cutting out too much light.

Yep - one size fits all, and any colour you like as long as its black. If you check the Shop page, there are a few shops that have them, so you can try them on.

Yes, the polarised ones do have tint. I find the biggest enemy of sunnies on the water is sunscreen, and the best answer I found to this is the new alcohol based gels. Tried the vanilla coles variety .. easy application, no sunburn, and awesome - no greasy sunnies / reduction of vision.

Yep - I occasionally wear a Gath as a helmet camera and my sunnies are no worries under it.

I've done a bit of field testing over the past week on the seabreeze sunnies I won and the results are, thumbs up ! they're beaut !

don't know whether this is B.S or not, but someone once told me that rain-x can damage plastic lenses!

Rain X, is primarily for racing cars to use instead of wipers on windscreens, It actually needs to be travelling at a resonable velocity for it to work properly.
I works by beading the water (like a freshly polished car) so that the apparent wind (in excess of 100kph) blows the beads of the windscreen. I don't know if it has any detrimental effect on plastic lens.
I think I, would try Laurie's 'Mr Sheen' idea first!

What would be the difference in wearing the seabreeze sunnies, to the "OKLIES" that i got given to be from a person that went to bali!

As far as lens's go - probably nothing.

The Seabreeze sunnies have a special strap attachemet for the strap to connect to on the end of the ear prongs, They also have slots/holes in the frames to shed water quickly. Specifically made for water sports.
Seabreeze replacement $80 delivered - but not likely to come of.
Oklies replacement $300 and a lot more possible to come of.

For those of you worrying about RainX, I used it for a while last season on my plastic safety glasses I use for windsurfing. Didn't affect the lenses that I could tell. Water just beads on the lens and drops off, so speed isn't a factor in keeping them clear. Sometimes small beads will form and be too light to drop off, but you look straight past them. It is mainly the water smear you normally get, and the dry salt that restricts vision.

Oh yes and the other thing about RainX is that it helps prevent fogging.

RainX last for a couple of goes as well. You don't have to apply it every time.

Mr Sheen uses silicon to bead the water. Don't get it on any paintwork if you ever intend to repaint it. It is a painters worst nightmare.

So perfect for speed sailing then. I'll know that I've hit the 100k mark when my glasses are clear!!!

But seriously I will have to try a pair. The other week i was doing some downwind speed runs at Botany, straight into the late afternoon sun. The glare was so bad I couldn't see the bumps, almost came undone a few times.

Do they have any distortion through the lenses (gives me a headache)? And do they fit a big head....and I don't mean ego.
