How hot is too hot? 50 degrees? 60 degrees?

I'm thinking the garage needs insulation.

He he, I know it's off-topic, but here is deep in the minuses in the winter (currently below 0C), and the garage is down to -5C. Sails get crackly, etc.

Damn I envy your predicament...

I don't know how hot "too hot" is, but I don't didn't want to find out the hard way.
Initially I placed the board in the roof with the Bombora but found it was too hot (it was uncomfortable to hold my hand on board for a long time, probably 50+) so I put a vent in the metal roof. Still too hot, so lowered the board to under the rafters which appears to be an OK temp for it now. But that is with a brick garage in Sydney.

You'll probably need to combine ventilation with insulation to get good results if it's a metal shed.

Sounds like you'd be better off leaving them outside in the shade. The area in the roof is going to be the hottest place in the garage with rising heat and the radiation from the tin roof. I reckon if you could put them on the floor you'd drop about 20 degrees.

Go get yourself a couple of bags of 120mm batts and some foil, won't take you long to do the job. Then you can install a beer fridge and you're set.

Move them inside the house in the a/c.Next to your bed or something like that.
If the cheese and kisses complains put her in the shed for a cupla days.

Thanks for the advice.

It was best the Kona went up due to space constraints with competing activities and storage in the garage. I was also worried that the kids would damage it etc.

For some reason due to the design of the garage it is not significantly different from the ground until you get to the rafter level. Also we may be selling to a developer in the future so don't want to spend any more money on this place.
