Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the iSonic 111, and in particular uphauling on it? Cheers

I have one and I love it. I use it as my light wind board as I am only 57 kg. It planes early, goes upwind well and is easy to gybe. In fact this board was the breakthrough for gybing for me. I can uphaul it with no problems.
I changed to the iSonic from a Futura of the same size, because it planes earlier, goes upwind better and gybes better. The Futura would be more comfortable in rough water though.

I tried a 122 and found it just too stable and easy. The 111 had a bit of a challenge to it.
You are undoubtedly heavier than I am, so my experience may not count for much.

I have up hauled mine with a 7.5 a few times, you just have to keep the weight off the nose as there is a lack of volume up there.

They have changed a little over the years.

I had an MY 09 /10.

You can up haul but its a little wobbly as its short with low volume up front (i'm 90kg). I found it to be a great allround performer and my 8m sail was a good fit, I have used it with 6.2. to 9m sail!

You need to get the board dialled in for max performance (idealy with s slalom sail) and get used to getting your foot in the rear strap. As Al mentioned, low volume up front, you need to be careful not to bury the nose when slogging.

If you are new to the sport or not particularly after a high performance slalom board then there are better options in that size / volume range.

Quite true. If you are still needing to uphaul regularly an iSonic is not the board for you. It is a board for experienced sailors.

I have been windsurfing for a few years, does anyone know how they sail with 6.8 techno rigs?

Are you planing in footstraps? These only have outboard straps so unless you are comfortable in footstraps this is not the board for you.
re sail size - I mostly use mine with a 6.4

I'd have to agree with the other comments. An iSonic is a high performance slalom board for an experienced sailer. If you're not water starting as yet, you won't really appreciate it, it will be too technical and too unforgiving. There are many other boards you should be thinking about before an iSonic. In terms of volume, 111ltrs should be fine for uphauling if you're 50kgs. I am 75kgs and uphaul comfortably when the wind dies and I get stuck on a 105ltr board.

Spend some time looking at other boards before the iSonic.

If you're 50kg that board will be a handful in open water. Not recommended!!

the tail width of the 111 is equivalent to a 130 litre free ride board

got one .. Am around 70-73kls?? not sure but it's stable enough to uphaul.. I guess the longer and thicker the uphaul line is the better in even wavy to choppy conditions better chance in getting up the sail regards
