Are these boards similiar in as far as there intended use? "All round" type boards? Would be interested in hearing anyone's opinions on either, especially around the 100 litre range.

Recently read Matt Holders review on the Kode (great read)..... has anyone had much time on the larger 94/102? What are they like for Freeride blasting?

Cheers.

92 FSW... I can only second that... one of the best boards I have ever owned. I am amazed that JP manage to continuously improve that board from season to season.

the '08 is probably the most versatile 92 FSW to date. However, I think it's worth investing in a couple of different fins to really fine tune the board. Mount the straps closer to the center of the board and it turns like a big floaty wave board... mount the straps closer to the rail and the board is like a rocket while still allowing to push through tight turns.

If you can afford it go for the Carbon edition. I think it's worth the extra $250.

'07' 93 JP FSW for me... bloody bwilliant Port Phillip seabreeze board I reckon. What amazed me was how much it loves to jump - just pops out and floats... not what i expected at all. Switch the fin to a 30cm JP supersport one and it cranks along the flat water at Sandy Pt too...

In one word... fun.

Cheers all! Yeah, I've heard and read a lot of good reviews regarding the JP FSW..... sounds like a great all rounder and one that can easily be tuned/setup for different conditions and uses.

What kind of sail range are you all using on the FSW? What's a comfortable size for the 92/93 litre board?

Have you considered the Fanatic Freewaves - I have had a JP FSW 92, Starboard 96 Kombat and now fanatic 98 - the fanatic just adds something more thats hard to explain but feels really good for flat water B&J and is feels way better than the kombat on a wave (the JP was a slidey on hard bottom turns - you had to be too careful) Fanatic is good from a 4.2 to 6.4- I leave my evo 92 in the car most of the time when there's waves now.

Another personal opinion i know but something else to consider

I have sailed it with 5.0 to 6.5 and its sweet (though prefer the waveboard when on a 5.0, but thats just personal preference).

I generally use the 92FSW with 4.7 and 5.4... I have used a 6.2 but found that it doesn't give you that much more range. I am well over 100kg at the moment but manage to get going on this board in about 18 knts. .

If I had to choose a single all round board I'd got for a FSW... the other nice thing is that the 84 and 92 FSW are both very very popular boards... this means you can usually sell them at the end of the season for an ok price and get a new model. Having said that... I think from '07 to '08 there haven't been too many drastic changes... I would expect the same to be case for '08 to '09.

It's a bloody great board shape... kind a like what the F2 Sunset was in the late 80s early 90s... I am expecting that JP will keep this board in it's line up for a few years to come.

Mate there are heaps of freestyle wave boards to pick from, all brands do one,
Naish Allterrain, Starboard Kode over 86l(the old Kombat),Exocett Cross, JP FSW to name a few,
Things to keep in mind for me was the fin box. After having a Starboard Kombat 105 with a US box, The board is great but I find the box a bit of a pain, Big gaps either side on the fin slot.
I recently bought a Exocett Cross 94, powerbox. I find it planes easier than the 105 Kombat, goes like the clappers, and have sailed with 5.2 6.0 and 6.6. Great board and the shock absorbing foot rests are great on those landings.
I was a bit hessitant about going down to 94l after the 105 thinking it might have trouble getting going, but I jumped straight of the Kombat and onto the Cross and was STOKED
