Anyone get out and about ?

Where did you sail and what was it like ?

Yer at Hams beach, was very average, didn't get on the water till 5.30.

Sailed at Brighton Le Sands. Got out at about 4pm and was lucky to get about an hour and half of decent sailing before it slackened off.... Still was not NUKING as much as I would have liked.... but at least managed to get out on 74ltr Evo

Brown soupy water is just wrong

I got out at at BLS too to practice my waterstarts (about 5.30pm). In the lulls it wasnt that windy, but there was definately more wind in the middle.

And it was the first day on my littler board that I didnt have to do the long walk back upwind.

In another topic a few weeks back someone was complaining that windsurfers were unfriendly. Over the last few weeks I have been 100% dedicated to mastering the waterstart, and once people saw what I was doing, I had many people offer me tips on technique - some of which were invaluable. And people made an effort to stay out of my way too. Great bunch of people at Botany.

Long Reef, it was OK but a bit too onshore and low tide for the waves to be good, but hey - it was windy!

Added bonus was that I collected a new board on warranty from the friendly folks at Windsurf and Snow in Collaroy then went straight down to longy for a sail. Can't complain about that!

Sailed wanda, wasnt all that good lots of current and and very onshore. Worth going out though, it did definately die off around about 5pm.

Clearly God is trying to tell us something about work and windsurfing.

Yeah, i got out just after 5pm for a bit of freestlye, slowly sailed upwind, finally got out of the windshadow then on first run in the straps (heading into the sun) I hit a submerged log which snapped my fin, ramed it into the tail of my board and gauged big chunks out of the bottom of the board!

Nightmare.

Got out a Birbui around midday.
There was just enough east in the breeze to stop it from being dead onshore.
Great fun blasting along the lines of swell and lining up the occasional ramp as a wave started to break.
Long runs, some around 2km long but still only 150m or so off the beach.
Fully maxed on a 5.4 and the little wave board before the rain squall killed it off and the swell got too big for the near onshore conditions.

Lots a fun while it lasted

Wind shadow and logs in the water? Where were you sailing, must have been narrabeen lakes or some dodgy place like that!

never thought Ide see the day but looks like bondi was best out of everywhere. I got out around 11 and sailed for 2 krs maxed on a 4.7. Swell was about head high and for the first time in living memory there wasnt a single surfer on the whole beach!! which was real nice as I went down a couple of weeks ago and couldnt sail at all due to the ridiculous number of surfers.

Which Sydney beaches can you sail off and which can't you sail off?

southside or northside?

Southside

you can sail off bondi still, maroubra kind of, but it really has to be a rainy miserable kind of day with no swimmers on the beach. Used to be great at maroubra but has been ruined by a few kites and stupid sailors who think its a good idea to sail repeatedly thru the flags while the clubbies abuse them over the PA, resulting in a ban.
Then you have the fabled Bare island if your feeling suicidal off of La perouse. Then further south you have the fabled Wanda beach.
Where are you living at?

Maroubra. Have seen it some days in a Southerly and it looks like heaps of fun, especially when the sun is out.

Got out at Peggys in the Gong at about 430ish. Solid 20 kts, cross off, low tide, nice sets on the inside :D Sailed it again this arvo but the swell went to shirt :(

Just sailed at my local beach - Fairlight. I couldn't be bothered with the Manly crowds and expensive parking!

I'm beginning to think there's going to be a cheap second hand AHD in the buy and sell section soon
