During the colder weather im wearing a well know brand of 3mm fury lined wetsuit booties how ever because im using them so often. Even in front of the heater there still not drying out quick enough resulting in a horrible mouldy foot smell.
its hard to get the heat down into the toe part to dry them.
Any tips or solutions to wash these in to help this.
Im only using fresh water to wash this after every use.

In the past I've turned them inside out to dry, this helps the smell but probably isn't all that good for the boots

Tried that, the rubbers too stiff in the soles to turn them inside out, you can only roll the tops down.

I turn my boots inside. They have stiff rubber soles. I can get them all the way inside out except for the toes where the toe split thing is.

I've been doing it for a year or so, and use them almost every day, so invert them that much too. No apparent damage to the boots.

I'm not sure I care if the boots wear out quicker. Wetsuits are a consumable item. It's more important to be warm and comfortable and not stinky than to keep wetsuits forever.

If you don't want to turn them inside out then washing them in a weak vinegar solution works. I used to fill the boots with cold water then splash in a little vinegar. The only problem is it makes me want chips.

A bit of Dettol disinfectant gets rid of the smell. I normally use Dettol every 3rd or 4th session to keep the stink at bay.

For the record, I'm not bothered about smelly boots drying out in the house, but my wife was, hence the Dettol !!!

Forgot to mention, turning just the ankle section inside out speeds drying up.

i only see two options here:

- toughen up

or

- start using soap (for your feet that is)...

Use these or similar, then use baking soda once they're dry.

And turn the boots inside out.

Hair dryer, or ski boot aerator.

I have no problems with mold or smell. My brand of boot do not recommend turning inside out to dry. I always dry mine in the shade, on my back verandah after every session. It usually only takes the next morning so is ready for the next afternoon session, but I live in Queensland.

I wear boots all year round. I try to drain the boot upside down after sailing and before heading home. I use Dettol to disinfect the inside and resolve any smell.

We have central heating in our house, so I upend the boots over a heater duct and let the gentle heat dry the inside overnight. Each boot can be upended over the heater duct at each end, so both dry at the same time. I lean the boots against the wall, so the air can enter the boot and I have used drycleaning hangers bent to shape to also support the boots if they collapse around the ankle.

I've used a small fan heater which has its outlet close to the floor and which has a wide outlet, to also dry the boots. In this case, I use the drycleaning wire to open the throat of the boot and I set the heater on low heat and have it placed some distance back from the boot, so as not to overheat the boot.

Agree with others that drying at home (but in the sun) also works and I place the sole of the boot facing to the sun.

Also, hang them outside and let UV do its job.

Laundry detergent or soap, vinegar (watered down) or a splash of bleach watered down too will help kill all mould.

Try 'piss off'. It's good stuff...

The best natural way to remove body odours etc is white vinegar with a drop or two of eucalyptus oil. Just soak the booties in a bucket of tap water with approx. 1/2 cup of vinegar and eucalyptus oil and they will be fresh again.

If you want to kill existing mould then a bit of tea tree oil is most effective. Avoid the bleaches because they do not kill all the mould.
