I have sailed for over 15 years and recently bought a JP 2007 Slalom III 109L board and a JP 2007 Freestyle Wave 92L board, the carbon edition.
I have used the standard JP fins that came with them boards and also a Gold Wing.

I sail with Neilpryde, 7.2 RS6, 6.2 Slalom with X6 masts and X9 Boom and also a 5.8 Koncept.

I am constantly going over the bars or stacking jumps as my front foot falls out of the foot strap. I can be flying along in 15 - 25 knots on a nice reach my front foot just wants to come out of the strap.

I have repositioned my harness lines trying to fix it
I have moved my boom up and down seeing if that helps
I have tightened my footstraps which only helps you a little bit
I have downhauled the sail more to help it, which did minimal effect.

Has anyone else heard of a similar problem? It feels like the footstraps are in the wrong position or is it the way the new sails rig? I dont think it is the fin as I am using the recommended fins or the goldwing.

I am completely over it and ready to sell it all and go back to the old gear, much easier to use.

Any comments are mostly appreciated.

I was having the exact same problem in the ledge to lanno on a JP Super-X.

Every time I got airborne off some chop, my front foot would try to pull out of the front strap.

I sailed the previous ledge to lanno on the exact same kit, with no problems. The only thing I did differently was to have one rear footstrap instead of two.

My theory is that with one rear footstrap, and the front footstraps set outboard, I was standing too square to the sail. With no outhaul on my sail, I was very backhand heavy on the beam reaches. I think this was causing my body to twist, which in turn was pulling my back foot forwards and my front foot backwards (out of the strap).

So... while this is all pure speculation, maybe try moving your back straps outboard... or if you want to use a single back strap on the FSW, move the front straps inboard.

personally i find tall narrow strap settings which grip the side of my feet rather than the top, are the way to go

Yeah I have the front straps on the outside setting and the back straps as far back as possible.

I was thinking about doing just one strap on the back, or maybe the gorilla grip stuff might be to smooth and need roughing up.

I have the exact same problem, going along a mad reach hitting 30 knots on the GPS and my front foot falls out.. not the nicest feeling!

Have you tried moving the mast base forwards?

Oh yeah I knew I left something out, I normally ride with it 3/4's to the front which works fine. I tried it forward a bit, forward all the way, and same for towards the back.

It actually felt better to the back.. which doesn't make sense.

I also think that a 7.2 should be fine on a 109L board with a decent fin size.

Put the foot straps in the outer position on the board. The foot might have found a good stable point on the rail of the board, and the strap is too far inward to give a good lock in position. Therefore by bringing the strap closer to the foot will give further security whilst sailing.
Move mast foot forward; when doing this, your whole body moves forward and thereby bringing your front foot closer to the front foot straps.
Lower the boom. This again will bring your front foot forward as the whole body gets closer to the board. This also gives more control in high wind.

Goes with what is the ProSecrets DVD. Front foot coming out of footstraps - "mastfoot forward, boom lower". What you are experiencing is a trim issue, not a gear issue. Nothing to do but keep making incremental changes.

I have the same problem on most boards that I sail... At 172cm (5'9"), I'm not particularly tall -> I find the stance of some boards to be too far apart... until I move the straps closer together so that my stance isn't so wide.

I had the same issue with my JP SS 118 and Xcite 110 and it was really getting to me, I asked Elmo and he offered that my boom maybe to high, I lowered it further than I wanted to and have not come out to the straps since.

I've had plenty of those days when you feel you just want to dump the gear. Quite often it's a case of adjusting item 1 which wasn't causing the problem, then you adjust item 2 which may be OK but is now compromised by moving item 1. And so it goes on the 'merry go round' of frustrating variables. Different models of sails will also trim differently and have an affect on overall gear set up.

I've been trying to tune my gear for better speed recently by getting the board to un stick as much as possible with increasingly higher boom and mast track back. Doing this will usually get me to the point where my front foot is light and doesn't want to stay in the strap. I've found I can also overcome this by stance adjustment, body more forward and lower ... which means playing with position and length of harness lines.

It's all about incremental adjustments, generally if I have trouble with new gear I'll start everything from the middle position and work from there, and if all else fails get someone else to take your board for a ride, as a sanity test.

O7 FSW is one of my favourites, I'll give you $50 for it.

why dont you try moving the straps further out to the rail and loosening them (which will get more of your foot into the strap). If you have trouble with your foot coming out adjust the footstrap, not everything else.

Do you curl your toes up or down to lock things into place? Maybe your toe curling hardware is a bit down on fitness.

I have the straps on the outside setting, have tried them loose and you just fall out of them but you can twist your foot better but the chop throws you out. Tighter is better.

Ill try lowering the boom. Since posting this thread I have found a few discussions about this and it seems to be the go.
