I do have a difficulty whether choosing a Fanatic Falcon 121lt/2018 or i-99 119lt/2019 or Rrd X-fire 118lt/2019 slalom boards for medium wind in offshore and sideshore choppy conditions??? I usually prefer w/surfing with narrower boards. Please advice.

Hi, what sail size do You use. How much do You weigh?

For choppy conditions I expect the RRD to be the smoothest board. For medium wind I normally would go one size smaller, RRD 114 for example.

I weigh 94kg. Sail sizes used with the specific board are 6.1, 7,0 and 7,8 slalom membrane sails. Taking into consideration price, X-fire 114 is a very good choice. I-99 is a bit more expensive at 119, while falcon is quite expensive than the other two boards. Durability, also is a matter to consider.

i am the same weight as You. For all the sail sizes You want to use, even the 114 (71 cm wide) ist not perfect. The 114 will work with perfectly with 7,8 and 7,0 (an also 8,6), for 6,1 it already would be a bit big, especially in choppy conditions. The Falcon 121 would be too wide, The I-99 119 with 72 cm could work but I would go for the 109 for Your sails.

THX for advice Alex. After searching, I found, at a very very sexy price, RRD brand new 2019 Blkrbn edition 235-70-120lt. So I am thinking seriously of buying this board.

If you are after durability the Falcon may be an issue. The join between high density foam at rear, and lower density foam at front, is a point of weakness when they are pushed hard. I mean serious racing in chop / swell.

If you're preference is for sailing narrower boards, have you looked into the WindTech Silver Bullets? These boards offer some excellent features and benefits when compared to some other boards and have quite a different volume to width/length ratio than many other slalom boards on the market. I'm a similar weight to you and have all 3 of the Silver Bullet range (57, 64 and 72 wide). Worth checking out if you're looking for options.
