What is going on with Simmer Style boards? Why are there no boards on their 2016 website. Do they no longer make boards and just focussing on sails and SUPS????

People saw through spraying a quatro design purple and renaming it, then getting it made at the same asian factory as every other board?



Simmer - nice different, distinctive and strong sails, but the boards were just plain maybe?

If they did the strongest or the lightest boards........ or even better a 50L FSW for chicks and a 110 - 120L waveboard that really works for fatboys then maybe it would have been interesting.
But I think unfortunately Simmer entered the market 4yrs ago with boards when we had the most amazing boards ever, after a few years of serious innovation, and they offered nothing new. Then kept pretty much the same thing for 4 yrs ish.

I dunno I agree Mark. I've heard from people I sail with that their FSW was really good for both fat boys and not so fat.

Wrong on a couple of counts there Mark. First they were not built in the same factory as everybody else, there were built in China at Jinlee not Cobra in Thailand. Maybe the wave boards were nothing new I don't know but they had a very innovative board in the stepped bottom slalom boards, the Monster and Godzilla, willing to take a shot at doing something very different.

My understanding is Simmer is bring out a range of boards for 2016 but are sourcing them from another manufacturer/factory. I know because I have been offered test production boards.

They have already brought out there inflatable 2016 windSUPS which are available now and great fun in light wind.

The Simmer boards I have sailed have been great performers on the water and they get good write up in the British windsurfing mags in their board tests.

Simmers 2016 website is only displaying what they have confirmed for 2016 so far (Only 2016 icon and blacktip currently displayed) as more 2016 sails and board become confirmed they will be added to the website

I been lookin and i waitin. yep also looking for the JP. 76-79L seems smaller than i was looking for. Not too many RRD's come up. What are your thoughts on the jp thruster quad? probably a bit out of my price range though

JP thruster quad is a great board for someone getting into the waves. relaxed rocker for easy planing and some width in the nose to get over white water easily.
Having ridden many of the JP quads since they came out basically pick any of them (except the radical quad) and you wouldn't go too wrong. I'd recommend the 82 for around Perth and the 74 if you were to be sailing in gero a lot. I'd say the 2010 were the best shape for down the line sailing and the newer ones got more euro tuned for onshore as the tail widths got wider and less pinny.

As for the simmer boards I'm a big fan boy of the designer Ola and his mathematical approach to design. unfortunately not had the chance to ride one yet. He posts a lot on Boards forums and makes far too much sense most of the time.

I decided to upgrade my FSW to a wave board last year.
I used to have the 92L JP FSW 2009
Upgraded to 92L JP Single Thruster 2013
At 90 kegs i found that the Thruster works really well in average Perth conditions
Planes nice and early and turns nice on the wave.
Sail size 5.3m - 4.8m can go bigger or smaller quite easily
I've played around with fins set ups too.
The bigger 22cm single fins for Jumping and onshore mush and the thruster set up (18 + 2 x 10; 17 + 2 x 12) for more down the line stuff.
Pretty happy with it but yet to test it out in any waves of real consequence.

Simmer will release a full range of boards for 2016.
The most popular board in the range called the Quantum has been redesigned. first sizes to be released will be 85 and 95. 80-90-100 and 110 will most likely follow.
The Flywave will also get an update for 2016. Sizes will most likely be 82-88-94
Freewave will change name and become the Helix and will be available in 95-105-115
Freemove remains unchanged, as it was a new shape for 2015.

The board you have seen Ben Proffitt riding in the Canaries is the new Quantum.

Production facilities has been changed as someone pointed out.
