I've done it. Use Pack and Send. Very straightforward.

Don't underestimate the amount of work it takes to pack a board properly, you can easily spend up to 2 hours plus materials. Best bet is to go to a shop and grab the original packing from a board of same size. You can reuse most of it but will probably need new bubble wrap.
Once packed if you can't drop it on something hard or drop a 20kg box on it without damage then it's not packed properly.

To keep the freight costs down you need to minimise the volume (packed size) without compromising the packing. Remove the straps and tape them down on the lowest part of the deck below the rocker line.

^^^^ Thus why pack n send is horrendously expensive.....
I'd rather do it myself and I like your method.....who knows how pack n send may do it.

I noticed the JP boxes have "high claim item" written on it as well as fragile so I wonder if that helps. I know the courier did take note as I overheard them when I arrived to collect it at the depot.

With the prices what they are, I've grabbed a cheap flight to NZ and took it in a board bag. Got a weekend visiting the rellies for the price of couriering a board!
