Hi all,
would Severne Overdrive or Reflex sails rig on Neil Pryde masts and perform OK?
Thanks, Marty

It would be a waste, better to sell the NP and get Severne.

No severne .hard top mast ...pryde ..flex top.
it will rig ..but might not work well ...you might get lucky ...but I think you will loss all the power in the sail .it will exhaust to soon .
i have tried it ..naish mast ..will work or gaastra .are the other options .

There are other brands of masts that will likely work ok, though suggest that Severne themselves are the experts with regards to your question. Maybe try emailing them. Also, Ben Severne has responded personally in the past to a similar post of mine on Seabreeze about Severne sail mast compatibility.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think the best will be to sell NP and go all Severne.

I have recently got back in the sport and have 2 Severne Code Reds, I went to WindsurfnSnow to get a mast. The guy sold me a NP mast and told me it was fine, it rigs okay but have been told already by several people that it is no good.
When rigged side by side with a Severne mast the sail just doesn't look right. I'm a bit annoyed but will have to keep using it as it does the job.

^^^ agreed. NP being at the far end of the spectrum, seems to be fairly well known for lack of compatibility with 90% of others.

Hmmm. Maybe "snow and some windsurf" is a better name...? Unless of course they jump in and offer a refund / swap to as to salvage their reputation.......

Maybe they just couldn't give a stuff whilst desperately trying to offload the last of their windsurf gear before they changed their name to Kitesurf n Snow!!!!

Mast and sail compatibility is not as cut and dry as we would like.

Cut a long story short, I have tested and raced with NP masts curves in Severne Reflex sails and raced on NP Evo sails with Severne curve masts....

Contrary to popular belief, "sail" making companies are not "mast" making companies, so compatibility is mostly marketing.....

**For the record, I'm in the mast business, so a bit bias, .. www.slake.co

Cheers

Hi That unifibre chart is great. I use ezzy RDM and ezzy sails, however my kids have severne sails and sometimes need an extra mast, (mine) from the chart ezzy masts looks reasonably compatible with severne sails. Am I reading that correctly?

Just to put my 10 cents worth in. Are you racing or just out having a blast around on a Saturday afternoon???
Yeah the ideal matched mast would be the optimal set up. But if your a hack like me and getting out when you can and having a blast, I doubt you will really notice much difference between the "correct mast" and the "next best thing"

They've been around for decades and a reputable store. If the mast doesn't work and they have provided the wrong product, then go back and get it sorted. It's possible that people do make mistakes !
