Hi, Does anyone have an opinion in this boom vs say the chinook or other equivalent? Thanks!

I got through a few different booms last season before getting a blue line, still going strong

Severne Blue Line vs Chinook vs Prolimit... all pretty much the same.

I replace mine every two years and just grab whichever's available at whichever shop I'm in at the time.

I had 2 x Prolimit, now sailing a Chinook and the wife has a Blue Line. Been happy with all of them.

(BTW, I replace every two years not because they break but because I sail quite a lot and I figure it's cheaper replacing an aliminium boom every 2 years than a carbon every 5).

Thanks guys, guess there's not much opinion on these either way. I have a three year old X6 and the head stock is splitting where the arms insert into the head. Is the head component replaceable as otherwise the boom is in perfecto condition?

Cheers,

All the X6's do that. It's electrolytic corrosion between the carbon and the aluminium. Avoid hybrid booms. They are trouble waiting to happen.

Off to Windsurfing Perth with the x6. Reg has plenty of spares.

Stiff not light -

Broke a (2nd hand) x6, replaced it with a new one - broke that

Got a blue line - no flex and I can live with the extra rig weight

Have to say - Ive had my Blueline for 6 months now after coming across from using a Pro Limit Assault and love it. Super Stiff, a little on the weighty side but can put up with that for the cost. Has my vote for the non professional side of sailing. Very Happy Indeed
