Hi guys,

I have a Tribal PowerMax in 44cm which I don't use, but need around 39cm.
The head is crumbling a bit, so I thought I could shorten it from the top and rebox it?
Any issues with this approach?

I can't do it though. Is it cost effective?
thanks...

Hi, no problem to resize from the top (Select Fins does it in France for approx 40 euros for a TT box)

When i was doing lots of freestyle is used to regularly downsize 32-36 fins down to 12-14.

Just chop them off with a hacksaw, then reshape/refoil the tip with a sander. Fins were chosen for their chord length and then cut to the desired length.

I buy used fins for cheap and repair/resize them. I repair head of fins with minimal modification and resize from base to keep "right" stiffness. For that i use select adaptator, powerbox for me, and epoxy glue reinforced with fiberglass, so don't need base mold. If you reduce size from head you should have the size you want but stiffer.
