My 5 year old board - Starboard Rio Longtail - has a rubber strip on each side of the centerboard. Somehow, a piece in the front bent downward with several inches of a metal strip that was holding it in place. It was sort of like a windshield wiper with metal partially encapsulating the rubber. I had to remove that entire rubber strip and the metal strip that holds the rubber to the board.

Is it possible to get a complete replacement including the rubber seal and the metal strip that holds it in place? If so, how do you attach it to the board? The damage occurred last year and I discarded the damaged strip.

I don't know how to fix your problem but as I'm waiting for the replacement lips of a Bic Veloce I share with you what I did to temporarily use my board:

put a stripe of inverted Gorilla Tape with the glue facing up along the slot. Keep it in place with little pieces and / or use the ends (glue against the board but only in the ends. Then, cover it with 2 new stripes but now with glue down, touching the board and also the previous tape stripe. Then, cut the Center for the daggerboard to pass. In my case, it is enduring and working!

Surely contact Starboard/Starboard dealers/shops in your area. The Rio is still made and sold and I suspect the part is I am sure readily available. It may be a generic Cobra part too or even similar to the parts used on Kona One Design or Windsurfer LT and the last model of the Mistral One Design made by Cobra. It is difficult to comment further without detailed photographs as aside from a temporary fix, any glue/epoxy or over enthusiastic hobbyist activity may wreck whatever is left of it, making use of spares or indeed enhanced spares and retrofitting harder in future and so best to use proper parts.

Yeah! Mines are dubbed "Gorilla Sails" now after your advice. I 've fixed 3 permanently ruined sails and they are fine! And for the daggerboard slot. it is working far better of what I expected. And regarding Richards's fears. it is a hobbyist expression that can be easily reversed at will and with no further damage.

The Double layer tape works for a few sessions or until you crank up some speed. Then you will get a Roostertail of water shooting up thru the CB case.
Tape will get you out on the water
But
Its just not stiff enough for repeated use.
