I'm visiting family in Sydney area (from East Coast US) for the month of October and am hoping to get in a few sessions during stay. Any recommendations on where in/around Sydney advanced sailor can rent kit by day/week?

You'll need transport, as no rentals at windsurfing locations.
Expect this sort of thing for flat water & bump & jump - Botany in summer seabreeze
or this at Windang if you like the surf
