Does anyone have any tips about recovery from exercise.
I find I when I have more than 3 consecutive days of good wind I have to take a break or I'm too buggered to enjoy it.
Also I find if I do a gym session on a Friday my sailing on the following Saturday is cut in half. In fact I can feel the deleterious effects of exercise on my sailing for two days afterwards.
Now what do I know -
Eat well and hydrate.
Sleep lots.
Mineral turps for the hands.
That's about it.
Are there any legal wonder drugs or herbal witchcraft that speed up recovery?
Hey NW,
Take a tip from a personal trainer.
Unless you are into the roids (which aid in recovery) not build muscle like most people think, then I would suggest you take a bit of a rest. Ask yourself this Q
Could I work out at the gym every day and work the same muscles.
The Answer = YES, BUT you will not be able to function the same way as on the first day. ie: you will be Fu*%d. Your body needs time to recover.
When you work a muscle or put it under extreme load you are in fact tearing the muscle(Microfibre Tears) then when you rest and eat a proper nutritious meal that's when the muscle builds and repairs.
Have you heard of DOMS Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. Very common, as most people take on average of 2 days before soreness sets in.
Of course you can supplement with things like L-Glutamine for Recovery & Repair, most Triathletes will use L-Glutamine on a daily basis.
If however, you have had a very heavy session then you may need to look at replacing your electrolyte levels with something like Hydralyte. Keep up your intake of water but include a hydrating mix.
For crist's sake man "Your not Superman"

Or are you!!!!

Are you mild manered?
Can you leap tall WindSurfers in a single bound?
Look up in the sky: It's a Bird, It's a plane NO, It's NotWal
Do you wear your underpants on the OUTSIDE?
Stay Safe Bloke !
P.S Someone mentioned Creatine - No NO No
Creatine is a Water Retention, taking creatine is for helping you bulk up and making your muscles look fuller.
AND as a Windsurfer I am guessing you get enough water with the occasional Dunking. Ha Ha!
