How do you re-hydrate after a sail?

From that well known medical research journal "MX"
"Researchers in Spain have discovered that a pint of beer post-workout or match is better atrehydrating the human body than water.
Researchers believe it is the sugars, salts and bubbles in beer that may help people absorb fluids more quickly"

I drink water while sailing, but just luv that cold stubby of Coopers Green as I pack up.
Helps get the salt out of the mouth

At my local we can park on the beach at the edge of where we kite so I keep a bottle of water and some munchies in it.
I find if I re-hydrate(have a skull of water)every half hour or so and eat a mars bar or something,I can stay on the water all day.If I dont do this I feel de-hydrated after a few hours and tend to feel more worn out the next morning.

You tend to not realise how much fluids you are losing when your having a good session on the water. If you were doing something as energetic out of the water, you would be drinking water non stop.

Definitely agree.I fill my camel back with Coopers green before every sail.

Wineman, I thought you prefered wine for your rehdydration. I think a nice Sav Blanc would do it.

Des,
it's a complicated process....

I must confess I love beer

so I have a couple...then well, we have some pasta & it's gotta be a red.

Sauv Blanc - over rated...but I do love wine as well

I thought it was skål which was a scandinavian drinking toast back when the Vikings were still having parties..

I'd be easily convinced that it is a reference to ceremonial drinking from the skull of enemies, in which case skull is probably the correct spelling..

How it came to have the contemporary meaning of "guzzling a fluid as quickly as humanly possible" I'm not sure, but those Viking parties had a bit of a reputation!

I find that really weak cordial like say half strength works the best. It gets rid of that salty taste and fixes up your tongue quick smart. If its too strong i find it makes me sick with all the salt water but mild cordial is the ****!

I have a (1.5L?) bladder built in to my life jacket and can easily empty it in a session.

I have a 1.5l camelback and thought it'd be a good idea to have a spare bladder for long sessions. Until I found the spare bladder cost more than the whole camelback

I was moved to look it up. The Wikipedia had the following interesting snippet :-

Skol (written skål in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish, and sometimes "Skoal" in English) is the Danish/Norwegian/Swedish word for a salute or a toast, as to an admired person or group. The meaning of the Scandinavian skalli/skalle: skal means simply "shell" and skál/skål "bowl". There is a popular misconception that the toast comes from the mythical habit of Vikings to drink from cups made from the skulls of their defeated enemies.

Reminds me of the end of Mad Dog Morgan when Frank Thring (He was great wasn't he) as the evil representative of the crown, remarked on seeing the body of Mad Dog "Make me a purse from his scrotum" or something like that :)

Watching a show on SBS I thinks called Food Investigators.

They advise skim milk is the best fluid for rehydration. I don't like skim milk so I'll stick to water or beer.
