Anyone know of a good grippy mast RDM sleeve.
You know the rubber sleeve that goes on the mast before the boom, to fatten the mast up to the right size for the boom clamp?
I have a Billows, fairly hard rubber one. Unless I do the clamp up extremely tight, it will slip on the mast sometimes when uphauling.
Which is very annoying! I don't like having to put that much pressure on the clamp.
I am wondering if there is perhaps a silicone type one available somewhere?
Or at least one that grips the mast well without needing to apply excessive pressure to the clamp.

HSM one hard to get on but very solid.

Hot sails Maui gives me 20 mm adjustment range with Pro Limit clamp over shim, requires considerable effort to move shim on mast though.

the last one i had - busted it
pressure was not applied evenly and cracked the crap out of it
last outing had none cuz local shop was closed - used foam and it did NOT move

that boom needs shim to go on RDM mast and so got another no name
the Chinook is also available locally
if this one slides or busts - will try that one next
thought i was the only one having issues with such a minor accessory

Hi Joe,
That's a great looking bit of gear there that's looks as tho' some serious speeds could be reached!!!! Whaadya get out of it and how do you work upwind if there's no snow on the ice? Excuse my ignorance but I don't snow ski.
BTW, is that your husky with a blue collar, out for his daily exercise with you???

I'll add Severne to the list of sleeves that work. Needed to replace my old sleeve (plastic/rubber sleeve that came with my Prolimit boom) because my new Severne RDM is so slippy (good).

I have a few. the hotsails one is very stiff and hard to get on the mast, also it was too short for my wide boom heads, i had to cut off the nodules at one end.

If you are using a pryde boom then the best option is the pryde rdm adapter which clips on the the boom head so no fiddling needed to get it on the mast.

The other one I have, not sure what brand, wss good but also too short to fit the boom head (Maui Sails & Pryde heads) without mods.
