<div>Be a part of the first Raceboard Worlds in Australia this century! The Championships will be held at Brisbane’s Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron from 20th-25th November, 2016.You can see the Notice of Race and enter now by heading to www.ausraceboard.org/

But first read the following information.

ENTRY FEE Please note the entry fee on the NOR is in Euros. To avoid international transfer fees, Australian competitors can enter online, but pay direct $300 AUD to Windsurfing Queensland. Please contact Tony Matta for bank transfer details - tonyretired@hotmail.com.

CHARTER EQUIPMENT Please note that in the first instance there is no charter equipment available for sailors based in Australia. In order to have a World Titles, we need competitors from across the globe. It was decided at the AGM at the 2015 Worlds in Sopot that overseas competitors would have priority in being allocated charter equipment. There is happily a lot of interest from international competitors, but due to the refusal of airlines to transport boards, and the fact that Australia is a relatively small windsurfing market a long way from anywhere, the number of charter boards and rigs will be limited.

We are endeavouring to meet the demand. To that end, we are also seeking second-hand charter equipment that people here might want to rent out for the duration of the regatta. If you have boards or rigs you would be happy to hire out, please contact RBWorlds2016@gmail.com, and let us know what gear you have. If you are interested in buying a set of Worlds ex-charter equipment at a competitive price directly after the event, please email RBWorlds2016@gmail.com. The more confirmed presales we have, the more charter equipment will be available for the event, so please let us know before the end of March.

So looking forward to this - 5 days of racing in Moreton Bay

. Good friends, racing and relaxing.

Going in a World Championship is on my bucket list. The last one was the Wally Worlds in Perth many many years ago. We decided to go to Margarets instead.

If the conditions are like the Nationals last year then it will be epic.

Alongside the RB Worlds we are running
Bic Techno 293 Oceanic Championship
Division 2 Oceanic Championship
and Open Windsurfing festival for any raceboards that don't fit the above categories.
Open Festival will have a sail limit of 7.8 and 2 board length categories, (over and under 3m).
Other categories may be included depending on entries.

Before the Nationals last year, I was trying to find out what the conditions were like at RQYS, Manly.

Here are a quick seach of videos I found - it's a great place to sail.

Entries and Charter Applications from overseas for the Raceboard Worlds have been coming in, and so far we have competitors from 9 countries committed to the event with a couple more still possible. Make sure you are part of it and get yourself some gear and get to Brisbane!

For D2 sailors,

Remember, as for any other classes, participants must have their membership in good standing with ID2CA and their equipment properly tagged
(Board and sails have to be tagged once only, using "ID2CA approved " blue or red stickers)

Is any one able to give advise re repairs to old boards and how they then comply with regulations?

I have a 94 Mistral EQ2 that has soft deck syndrome....around the pads especially the foam is quite compacted [most likely due to age]

Ideally I would like to remove the ASA skin, foam & reglass it, but that would mean losing the blue Mistral pattern and most of the graphics on top.

The Raceboard rules state in C5.2;
(b) The deck grip may be restored to its original condition with a clear coating provided that the original deck graphics can be clearly seen.

Obviously my plan to repair would mean losing that, or even if I was able to re-glue the ASA skin on top, there would be a 'scalp' line around it or there will be patches in the top skin where I inject the foam.
I have been communicating with the most helpful Eva, The Board Lady, re fixing the board, but what I can do may be limited by what the rules require.
Alternately, I may leave it till after the event & then fix it, but soft foam is not good....

I think that as long as you keep part of the original graphics, it fine (need confirmation for that though), so if it is just at the pads but not the rest of the boards, you could repair it.

If you were neck and neck with Max Wojzik for 1st place, you may get some attention from the officials. That aside, I would be arguing a case with any over-zealous official that the rules are intended to (a) ensure competitors use approved production boards, with the serial number of the board and the ISAF logo clearly visible, and (b) ensure that no material changes to hull shape or board performance have been achieved through a modification or repair ... attributes that you should be able to demonstrate.

Despite being at RQ where our regular Raceboard sailing sees a very casual approach to class and racing rules, given that it is a World Championship, the rules I'm sure will be strictly policed, to ensure competition integrity.

Given this, Tony Matta may be able to arrange some sort of official guidance in advance such that you can have some confidence as to what the race committee will or will not allow - contact Tony via the event website.

question re sail sizes.

9.5m is the largest size for a Raceboard, but when you read the regs there is a small percentage of 3.2% allowance. this would allow up to 9.804sqm.

But I'm guessing that a sail marked 9.6m would fail the acceptance because its marked 9.6?? Correct or not??

The reason is that I would like to use a Sailworks NX. The size is 9.6sqm.

any thoughts from the organisers?

...maybe Ill get the scissors out and cut off a bit :-))

I'm not on the committee, but you would likely be denied use of the sail unless you can bring with you some evidence that your sail has been recently measured by an ISAF measurer and is within the allowed tolerances. Your sail might be a 10m when it is measured.

I think it would be possible to use it but, as Mark wrote, would require remeasuring to prove it was within the tolerance. Your 9.6 may well be over 9.8m. I suspect manufacturers regularly push the limits in their efforts to compete.

Thanks for replies, yes apparently I 've been informed that most sails are over, pushing the 3.2% margin....

I'm going to ask Sailworks about the exact size & investigate about a measurer in Melb as well. They might even be able to modify one as well.
Or I'll just uses Retros....maybe slower, but easier to sail.

I'm calling myself a 'participating spectator', just there for the fun!
