Will be interesting to see how the foils will do in 40 knots of wind. I think we will be surprised again in this competition as I think the foils will handle the chop better than the fins.

It'll be the final proving ground for the foils. If they can match the fins in conditions where the fins are meant to be the better option (High winds and open ocean conditions), well..

But they've already been using them in training at Tenerife in somewhat hectic conditions, so maybe it'll be a moot point.

At the pro level I do not see a single reason to continue to have fins and foil competing in the same event. It's called open class, and it belong to club "for fun" racing. It would make a little more sense if in individual races competitors were forced to use one or the other, but as it is now, when they get to choose and you have fins and foils in the same hit, it is just a silly. Just do foil, it is better for sure in 8-15 knots conditions, and nobody races in 40 knots anyway ...
