Wow! Ive just seen the Subiaco City Council's plans for Pelican Point.
I hope they have got some massively huge public liability insurance as they intend placing steel aboriginal sculptures complete with spears in the kite launching area.
If a kiter managed to get skewered it could get very interesting.(some windsurfers may argue this is a positive step by the SCC)

The SCC fitted a shower/hose down/footwash area a couple of years ago for a reputed $30,000 and that facility has never worked properly unlike the setup at Lucky Bay that couldn't have cost the Melville Council more than $5000 and has worked perfectly for years.

How can the SCC spend a reputed $250,000 on these "sculptures" and I assume associated works when the lawns in the kite and windsurfing areas can only be described as disgusting. Every time we return from Pelican Point my feet are filthy and to get to the "sometimes working" footwash you must cross the so called lawn.

C'mon SCC use a bit of common sense, plant some lawn and fix up the vintage toilet block not WASTE your ratepayers money.

On a positive side the carpark is good and the rangers who supervise it seem to use common sense controlling it. The only time i've seen tickets issued is from thoughtless parking that stuffs it up for others or parking long term.

Sorry but no link but these are photo's of the statues(i hope)
The council could be contacted at Technical Services 93870900.Unfortunately the comment period closed last week. I got to see the proposals through a ratepayer.
I wouldn't be too happy if I was a SCC ratepayer.

Yeah more like 5000 dollar statues & 245000 back handers

why the Fark do they want to hide them in that stoopid arse little area next to a dogs on a leash sign ? Maybe so the dogs can piss on something cultural...

Real dumbass clever that idea is ... why not put them around the Matilda bay side where thousands of people who lunch & picnic can enjoy them or next to the little play area where people are ?

Maybe they could go next to the Birdchit water statue somewhere
