Foil is part of slalom now I believe, so if it's lighter, foil, winder, slappers. No 'course racing' per say which is a bit of a shame but I guess they leave that to the other events.

I do find it odd though as foil slalom requires a totally different type of foil, board and sail setup to course racing unless it's super light....so totally unique or at least compromised gear which I don't see would have the overall general appeal of the course race stuff...which attracts the formula, rsx and even longboard crowd etc. At least some manufacturers like Patrik have 'convertable' boards which you can add the rear width extensions back on to make them suitable for both course and slalom.

Just curious... if Australia is a such a great place for windsurfing with lots of locations and variety around the country; regular overseas visitors on their 'trips of a lifetime'; a destination country for brand photoshoots/videos; a country that has produced champions, innovators and legends of the sport; not to mention world class brands... how come AUS doesn't get a spot on the professional event circuit?

Sponsorship dollars and time of year? Our best conditions are in the off season I guess.

yeah, I participated in some well sponsored events in the mid '80s in VIC, NSW, where often some of the international guys attended after the last PBA event for the season. I guess some of the PBA guys were just keen to get home after travelling most of the year.

Am a bit surprised that there hasn't been any PWA events in WA over the years since then. Great conditions there for all competition disciplines.

We only run the event in new cal every second year, sponsor money is hard to get and volunteers need a rest !

yes every slalom event will be foil&fin, up to the riders to choose what they want to use on the same downwind course
except for the girls who either do foil or slalom, no mixing.
