I calculate it as starting midnight on the 7th. That is, 00:00 on the 8th. For the east coast. An hour later for the women's.
...if it'll be live on tv.
That's a Tuesday ![]()
The coverage of the RSX worlds in Perth was so good. Let's hope they've learnt something from Channel Ten's (One) coverage of the Perth Sailing World Champs.
Will it be on Foxtel though?
Is there a list of who is sailing?

Would be good if there were strong winds, of course. Perhaps a bit ****e otherwise.
DO I read that right with the Australian entrant being blue for the men's and says NOC Rejected!
Does that mean we don't have a competitor?
Not looking good for wind now, this morning is the last wind here in weymouth for a good week, longer range is predicting an azores high which usually blOcks any low pressure and wind. Potential sea breeze of 12 to 16 knots in mid afternoons, not too common this time of the year though.
About four or more australian men where at Olympic standard and qualified for the games but Yachting Australia didnt send anybody. The Australian team is one of the hardest to qualify for. You have to win a world cup event or come top 10 in the worlds, something like that.
Yachting Australia about a year ago relaxed the selection criteria for the mens windsurfing so the boys went hard and spent all their money on gear and events!!
Then YA changed its mind and said now RSX is dropped for kites we dont want to send any of you guys.
I feel bad for the familys that went all in.
Eygpt has taken our spot now
Gee that is a shame that our very own yachting body that are supposed to be there to support us pulled the plug after all the hard work, time and money spent on doing their best, not to mention the investment Yachting Australia would have made in the lead up years as well.
Since us Australians are good sports I thought we would have sent our best athlete that we had in any sport regardless of their world ranking.
Sounds a bit like what that sprinter guy was on about with the selection process of his sport.
I wonder why a female got in and not a man!
In the womens RS:X class, Jessica won the ISAF Level 1 event at Kiel Week in Germany, June 2011. With this performance, she met Yachting Australia's qualification criteria for the London Olympics.
The kitboard racers will soon realise how it all works. Top 6 in the world championships or win a world cup or no guarantee (?hope) of going to the Games. Hope your pockets are deep
And if we use a little imagination we could assume that becasue they were dropped they are a little bit p!ssed off and thats why they are seeking a ruling ![]()
RSX racing looks great on TV...Turning out to be a windy event, which ironically would have suited the Aussie RSX men who didn't even get a chance to compete.
Such a shame and wasted opportunity....I love sailing and windsurfing, but lets be honest, some of the sailing classes are not up to scratch compared to windsurfing and skiffs. I'm left scratching my head how Windsurfing got dropped?
Oh yeah, now I remember, Yachting Australia voted it out! That is a fact!
Great Olympic RSX Windsurf racing on TV, why would you want to drop that class when you have all of those dreary dinghy classes you could choose from?
Kites and W/surf are modern, trendy,
keep them and dump some traditional rubbish....
ISAF.....well out of touch
The RS:X Class takes the ISAF decision to court
Shame that it has come to this, but the proof is in the press release below.
How this happened in the first place is still a mystery, i.e Why did Spain vote for Kite's when they are about to win a gold medal in Windsurfing? Just one of many questions that need to be addressed.
Hopefully this doesn't get too ugly, but something tells me that the gloves are coming off....http://www.rsxclass.com/download/PressRelease_JudicialReview.pdf
You can see any sport live for free here, works brilliantly once you get rid of the ads at the beginning.http://www.vipbox.tv/olympics.html
It visually hurts not to see any Aussie names in the men's standings...
On a different topic: how come so few DSQs, like the good ol' days?? Is there no such thing anymore?
Just curious...
Recorded the windsurfing on Fox, it was pretty bloody good. Have seen a fair bit of the Lasers etc but then scored with the womens RSX. Great footage and OK commentary, they certainly dumb it down.
Jessica looked like she was sailing well and beat the fancied GB lady. The Ukraine sailor was smashing it. the fleet was planing nearly all the time and was very interesting watching them downwind.
They also got some pace up.
I think any one should be able to compete with there country flag on there back
Yes there should be min requirement ,eg swim 50 in xyz time
But with the windsurfing , if you can stand on the board and go around the buoy
You should quafily
Yes with the sailing class there is limited to 1 person but send offer the best of the try out
Sending no one is stupid ......
With sailing even the favorite can get wiped out on the last leg on a flue wave and give the under dog a chance ........
Ps how many FAIL swimmer did we send over that didn't even get pass there heats
