Foil is just an attachment to a windsurfer... not the other way round :D. The sport is alive and well. There are just different interest groups which is great. The sport will go through phases but is WAY too cool to die... ever.

yesterday we had another 20 knot easterly from 5-9pm. Some went from foil, to slalom fin, then back to foil. And you can go faster blasting in slalom conditions on a fin than on a foil. Guys have GPS speed data that shows it!

i used the BIC KPR formula 170L with 48cm fin & 8.5m Arrows sail... as the broken bit of bolt tip #2 is still stuck in the foil mast head :(

Just goes to show Windsurfing forum users are more versatile, have a bigger vocabulary, but choose to use it more selectively than Foiling forum users??? Basically, filter vs. no filter so you don't have to wade through so much BS :D

Hi All,
STRONGER FOIL ATTACHMENT for Speed 250L RB CB slot.

M8 8mm threaded rod. Green Nylon block with 4 pairs of holes. Also have stainless steel tubing to sheath bolts if needed. Will secure with Nylock nuts.

BIG THANK YOU to olskool & Imax1 for all their advice on how to make the foil attachment to the Speed 250L RB stronger so I don't RIP REAR BOLTS APART under enormous tension from the loads generated.

Stats:
1. Stronger M8 (was M6) ... 8mm threaded rod which now sits in the foil mast head and feeds up into the CB slot from below.

2. 20mm x 50mm x ~1m green nylon rectangular BLOCK with 4 pairs of holes for different foil placement in CB slot. The green BLOCK is a PERFECT TIGHT FIT in the CB slot and transfers the load away from the bolts to the board.

3. Flanges top & bottom to create "sandwich" foil attachment method as before.

4. Stainless steel tubing to sheath the threaded rods is on STANDBY... but I think is not needed now with the nylon block already sheathing the rods.

Will test & see how it holds up... but I'm VERY confident this will work like GOLD !!!

Imax1, foil being on an RB. Wouldnt the crashdive be LESS of a crash? All that bonnet out the front would touch the water earlier into the dive? Lessening the angle? Making it less of a crash.? Or almost no crash.... Gimme a go on this thing.!
