That's a very smart thing to do, and you're correct, no ill effects, also no more boom slams on the nose just to smash the nose up over and over again. Done it to several boards over the years, I also think it speeds up the board a bit. "Flip tips" as we called them here in the states, didn't last all that long as a popular shape, cut those things off for an improvement, square or rounded corners on the nose doesn't really matter, personal preference only.
