Hello all,

I took up windsurfing lessons this summer (Mediterranean) and got caught by winter just as I climbed onto a 135L board. I'm currently trying to get myself a rig ready for the next summer.

I took a totally destroyed North Sails E_type 7.3 imgur.com/a/SvJ9r , and after an extensive surgery turned it into a North Sails E_type Frankenstein imgur.com/a/1RwzC .
My next move is getting a mast for this monstrosity.

I'm eyeing a used 2014 460 100% CC 25 IMCS Vandal mast that according to Unifiber has a slightly different bend curve than Norths SDM masts. The Vandal mast is within my budget but I'm clueless as to how much of a problem the bend curve difference may be. Thanks!

IMO the vandal will be stiff top,
i say pass, the North wants a constant curve.

the vandal would go up the sleeve just fine, you would lose some of the sails potential

Thank you for the input. From my knowledge (and correct me if im wrong) additional mast stiffnes in the top will decrease the sail twist/leech flutter at the top from spilling the excess wind thus raising the effort center. Is that a concerne for someone who will mainly go out in 15ish knot weather? It's kinda hard passing on the offer :(

Because you are at early stages probably it will not make a huge difference, but the mast will last you much longer than any sail, so when you progress you will be restricted to hard top sails. Constant curve is the most popular and will give you more opportunities to buy cheap sails in the future.
