I'm looking for some help.

I broke the boom clamp on my Neil Pride X9 boom after running aground.

The photo above shows the broken part. It's the white bit. I've googled the part and it's available for sale, but only in the UK and they won't ship to Aus. Does anyone have a spare Neil Pride boom head from a broken boom they want to sell or barter for beer?

I have a spare Chinook boom head and the Chinook boom clamp looks as though it would fit, but I would have to sand back the protruding nob on the Neil Pryde boom to fit. See the following photos.

Do you think sanding back the nob will fatally weaken the boom? Has anyone successfully fitted a Chinook boom clamp to a carbon Neil Pride boom?

Have you contacted Sunshine Coast Boardsports? They carry a lot of spare parts.

John, try Sam/Chris at WSS Boards 02 9971 0999. Dont sand the knob off, you always want your knob to stay intact!!

Could also cut/drill/router out the Chinook boom head to accept the protruding knob on the boom, but like said above I would not do anything to the boom.

Thanks Sandman for your input mate. I am sending John the replacement part so that he can keep his protruding knob in one piece.

I had a bad experience with NP spares ... Different designs between different years and different models... They look the same but minor differences .. Good luck .. personally I would use this as an excuse to upgrade to a new boom.

I hear what you're saying Jake, perspective in the photo is a bit deceptive, but this seems to be the right part as at least my two X9s. They're all the same size and shape

If you have measured with calipers, then you should be good to go .. just remember there's a lot of different dimensions.. width, length, diameter, cutout, curve, etc .. and they all need to be an exact match .. a 1mm difference can cause a problem and may not be easy to modify.

(Yes, I have spent hours trying to modify NP boom clamps with a Dremel.)

Hope you have more luck than me :)

The replacement boom clamp fits perfectly. No dremel needed. Thanks Sparky. Aus Post was a little late, but came through in the end.
