Hi forum crew,

i need a new sail for light wind sailing. i'm looking for a sail around 5.7 - 5.9 to fit a 400 RDM Neil pryde x6. does anyone have any suggestions? Budget is not really big.

On that mast i'd be only looking at Neil Pryde or Tushingham sails.
Neil Pryde - Excess, Fusion Tempo or Zen sails are all good cross over sails
Not too sure on Tushy sails

The biggest you will get on that which will fit is a 2010 - 2012 ish NP Atlas 5.8. Nice powerful wave sail.
But needs about 34cm extension

NP is a tip flex mast so other brands will twist too much on that mast and whilst they may work OK you will lose the bottom end you are chasing. Tushinghams will work OK

Depends on intended purpose of sail ?? but if you must stick with that mast and you want an easy & fun sail go A NP Atlas or maybe a hellcat which are both very light and powerful sails. Going down the race sail road = money/tuning& time to get the best out of it in my IMO.

I have a 5.7 Tushy Rock but it rigs on a 430 mast.
Your welcome to try it. Might sell it cheap to you?

Thanks guys. that takes some time researching and confusion out of the equation. I have noticed though, not many if any 5.7-5.9 sails available. i'm guessing they are not a good size or are so versatile that nobody want to get rid of them. i'm erring to the later. no rush i'm sure something will come up.

probably the latter - everyone uses that size sail and uses them a lot

i have a 5.5 NP Fusion, very nice sail, but rigs on a 430

i think you might struggle getting anythign above a 5.5 that rigs on a 400

welcome to the world of windsurfing equipment i am losing count of the masts, sails, booms, fins and boards i have turned over

I rig a 5.9m Loft 02 on a 400cm mast with about 45cm of extension. Its a bit of a worry, reliability wise using so much extension. However I've been rigging this sail on a 400cm mast for around 2 years. Previously I rigged this sail on a 460cm mast. The sail rigs much better on the shorter mast and is great to use. I dont have a 430cm mast.
