Anyone have any idea whether a Severne Gorilla 430 RDM Constant Curve will work "more or less" on a 2022 NP Speedster 6,4 (luff 450) Constant Curve Flex Top ? I see the NP and Severne masts 430 both have same ICMS 21 so its just the top part that differs slightly. I get that its not ideal, but is it a deal breaking bad idea ? - not looking for race course performance, just got the chance for a cheap deal and fancy giving it a go but not interested if have to get a more compatible mast. Thanks for any thoughts.
If 2 masts have the same overall bend, but 1 is more flextop, it also means it is stiffer at the bottom of the mast. This area is just as important, or even more important, as the top of the sail. If you have a too softer bottom section, then you wont get the same amount of fullness in that area of the sail, and its that area which provides the power. The Speedster is a no cam freerace sail, which should have a fuller area low down and more twist up top than a freeride/wave sail.
It should work "more or less". I've no idea how much "more" or "less". But what is the point of buying a speed performance orientated sail if you cant use it to its fullest?
The old and new Unifiber chart has NP as the same bend curve throughout the mast length range. NP have had this chart on their website for years.
